Petition to make Mazda fix our cars!!!

I'm just trying to see how many people with a Speed6 got the reflash and have noticed dimished performance? From what I understand, Mazda got is some trouble with the Miata and RX-8 regarding mis-quoted performance numbers and the issue with the Speed6 reflash falls into this group. I'm really considering putting together a petition to see how many people it would take to complain to get Mazda to fix our cars?

to be honest, your car is not any slower.

my car lost power like you describe, but only at certain parts of the powerband. it also gained power at other areas though! in the end your car is left with a SMOOTHER feel, if smooth is slow then never buy a BMW my friend.

in the end your car, is no slower. i confirmed that, by comparing cars with another person. before then after my flash..its not slower..its in your head.

and no number of american consumers is going to make mazda think..hey those white ppl are right. it has .035bhp less than before, wow recall every ms3 RIGHT NOW! ;) ya know

Had the reflash, car's not slower. Louder & pulls harder if anything. A buddy who complained that my MS6 needed a CAI and exhaust commented on this after the reflash, without knowing it had been done. So it's not just my observation.

Just to be clear, are we talking about the recent reflash, that for me anyway, came in tandem with the variable swirl valve actuator inspection/replace?

Up here in Canada it's 4807H & 4907H. I'm getting it done this Friday.

I had that reflash performed as part of the recent recall and also got the Clutch TSB performed as well. Personally, I hadnt noticed any difference. I was much more upset about the reflash performed from the "Power Loss" recall. On that one I noticed a difference in power immediately. In any event, I have gotten over it.

Just as an aside, from all the threads complaining about our cars, a casual viewer of this site would think that the Mazdaspeed vehicles are the most unreliable POS ever sold. I think we are too demanding as a group for some reason. I am very happy with mine and just try to accept the fact that the vehicle has some quirks.

+1 here ... love the car.

Maybe it's just because I don't push my car as hard as others (though there is a nice curve on the on-ramp to go home where it's fun to test the cornering), but I haven't had any problems with mine.

Quirks? Heck, I associate true quirks with older cars, such as when my brother by-passed the wiring harness on the 74 Impala to put a toggle switch on the starter. He did that when the key switch would no longer energize the starter circuit.

for me it wouldn't be fun having a car without quirks, it's how i learn about my car, how to drive it to prevent those quirks or how to fix them, it's what makes it MY car

+1

i think people saw that they could get a BMW or MS6 for the same price, and automatically assumed that the MS6 would be identical to the BMW in build and reliability. thats just not the case. i would much prefer a BMW that had the same/better specs, but thats an M3 and WAY out of my price range

As long as we have to deal with the damn electronic throttle we'll never know what this drivetrain is fully capable of. When I put my foot down I expect the car to give me all it has, not ween off the power at the throttle plate. I paid for the car, I should tell it when to go, not some electonic overlord!

I heard from a mazda service manager that the reflash for the mazdaspeed6 lowers 25hp to help with their smokeing issues and reliability...

LOL JUST KIDDING

I've had my car a little over a year and the 3 reflashes have helped some "quirks" but not all of them. The reflashes have smoothed out the accellration in 1st & 2nd gear though.

I knew from the day I traded in my '06 RX-8 (<engine issues) for the '06 MS6 that I was buying a limited edition, first run, 4 door sedan that might make me giddy as I travel to work and back.

My car has been in for numerous warranty repair work but I'm stuck with this car and I'm going to sit back and watch the other owners who have the dollars to go beyond what I've done in mods.

I want to see how much money this car will need to be a notch above its intended class of price range.

Here's a list of 10 simple things Mazda could have done to make the MS6 decent:

1. Shifter feel: Shifter is sloppy, needs to be firmer and more direct

2. Damn clutch pedal: Sloppy with too much play before engagement

3. Too much body roll: Firmer rear sway bar needed, reduced ride height

4. Rear engine mount: this should be the first thing any MS6 owner should get.

5. Tires and suspension: The Bridgestones are not the right tires for this car's setup. Michelin Pilots are would have been a better choice, any 91Y rated tire with larger outer blocks would allow the car to corner better. Wider wheels fit they will fit.

6. Engine: MORE POWER. No reflashes, no TSB's, no CEL's... just MORE POWER

7. Exhaust note: If I'm buying a performance car, I want to hear it sing

8. Bose: Needs some low end bump. I swear the sub is just there for loooks

9. Did I mention MORE POWER

10. Fake exhaust tips: I was driving behind a Hyundai Sonata the other day and was actually envious of the intergrated exaust tips

Ok I agree on the exhaust tips. Lets get real.
AND NO REFLASHES...or at least the option to go back to normal...REBOOT!!
