CX-7 GT w/ Tech
I have no idea how to make this count for anything, but I have a MAJOR request of you all.

I started an online petition here:
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/mazdaCX7_iPod/index.html

And would love for any/all of you that are upset about the iPod issue to sign it and even MORE important... pass the link on to OTHER forums you might belong to. I really want Mazda to know that "some" of us are upset and something should be done.

Thanks...

the link isn't working, but I assume you're trying to link me to Mazda's iPod Connection Kit - which DOES NOT work with the Tech Package (Nav Unit) systems.

Unless you're linking to something totally different.

7 signatures - including my-own. Oh well... I guess it's not as "big" a deal to most as I had originally thought. Live & learn.

:)

I don't have an Ipod. I refuse to support that company. I disagree with Apple's use of limiting supply during the Christmas season to artificially inflate demand. It might make good business sense, but it's mean.

Wow - I am no Apple fan-boy, but I know for a fact that they do not do anything of the sort... it's actually further upstream. The demand overtaxes the component suppliers. It makes NO SENSE for any company to restrict product flow during peak purchasing season. There is no "benefit" to creating an artificial deficit of product because lost sales are lost sales. It doesn't drive higher demand. It's amazing the myths that follow them around. :)

Oh it's no myth.

I worked in a Best Buy. The Ipods trickled in all during the Christmas season (maybe 10 of each model per shipment and the shipments were sporadic at best), then on the next shipment after Christmas we received 300 (yes THREE HUNDRED) of each model.

And don't try to say that it was Best Buy doing this, because the IPODS were sent UPS directly from Apple to the store. They didn't go through the normal Best Buy warehouse and distribution system like everything else.

It was the same for all Best Buys in the district. And from what I heard, other retailers were the same. Even the Apple stores.

You're making my point. The actual demand goes-up during certain seasons and let's face it - they cannot meet extreme demand. It's always been a weak spot for them. It's not calculated... they have to "ration" which units that DO arrive from overseas (finally) make it to what retail or direct sale locations. Usually, direct (web) sales get fulfilled in a higher priority, Apple retail has been accused (possibly true) of favoring THEIR retail outlest over other chains such as BestBuy, CircuitCity, or wherever the heck else they're sold. You must understand that the idea of "mass appeal" is new to Apple and they also carry one of the most efficient inventory quotas in the tech market, but when you try to run your inventory so that you never exceed demand, you sometimes fall-short of "actual" demand.

They fall-short a LOT, but I assure you it's not "calculated" in the sense that they are trying to "pull one over" on anyone.

mustang is right...

the did the same thing when I was working @ circuit city.

the ipods are sent like he said directly from apple UPS style.

during holiday seasons shipments were nonexistant and ipods were hard to come by....

their apple store in the mall, however, were receiving double or triple the deliveries in larger quantities. After christmas we would receive our normal "bulk" shipments as normal. So not only did they send fewer, but they also favored their stores.

believe what you want, but I always felt the market was too skewed towards ipod... Regardless of whether or not its the best out, the market should be a little more "universal" IMHO.

I have not made your point at all. If they were indeed running low because of demand, they wouldn't have suddenly had thousands of Ipods available the day after Christmas for the Southeastern Wisconsin market. I highly doubt the Wisconsin market ranks above others which means the whole country got this flood of Ipods THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS. Which means they were sitting somewhere just waiting for the day after Christmas.

I'm not the only one that feels this way about Apple and their ipods.

Of course, you could argue that this is a smart move by Apple and good business practice. And you'd be right. But it's not necessarily the best thing for consumers--a somewhat notorious path that Apple's followed as of late.

Now this is in reference to the new Ipods not including bluetooth. However, you can see it is clear that others agree with me about Apple's track record.

Donation?

I would love to sign this petition. One of the reason I didn't bought the Tech package (which I still regret) was the lack of iPod integration.

For what it worth, the petition is a good thing but... I'm not ready to spend any money on that (even $2).

So, it will be without me.

I'm ANTI-IPOD myself. I have Creative Labs 30Gig Zen Vision-M that I love. No problems and $100 less than an apple ipod and does more. (built in radio, more file types it plays, etc.)

I'm pissed Mazda didn't put the audio jack in the center armrest box like it has in the CX-9's. That pissed me off that it wasn't even offered on 2008 GT packages for the CX-7. It's not like it's new technology.
