Hey all,
So I had a P0204 (Cylinder 4 Injector A circuit) and P0016 (Crankshaft Position – Camshaft Position Correlation (Bank 1 Sensor A) come up recently. I went ahead and checked and confirmed (or so I thought, at least) the bad fuel injector (#4) then proceeded to swap it out. Put everything back together and then did an oil change as well. Just drove the car around for a test drive and within 5 minutes a pending P0016 popped up. As far as noises and sounds, I am not hearing anything detectable or out of the ordinary that sounds weird as far as I can tell... maybe I don't know what to listen for either.
That said, I'm wondering what the next steps should be if the P0016 doesn't go away and gets stored? I've read that it could point to the timing chain being stretched or not aligned and even the dreaded water pump failure - currently I am not hearing the chain rattling when starting the car up. The car seems to start just fine and I'm not getting any rough idling or acceleration like how I was when the P0204 was also present, so it seems like replacing the fuel injector at least resolved the other issues. I am still concerned about the P0016 though. I've also read that it may be worthwhile swapping the camshaft sensor as well as the VVT sensor?
At this point, if the P0016 becomes stored I might try swapping the camshaft sensor out but if that doesn't resolve it, I'm considering just bringing this to the mechanic to (hopefully) resolve. Searching around, it seems like there are many things that can result in the P0016 but I'm just trying to narrow things down as much as possible before escalating.
