pedal to the metal/ redline?

Out of curiosity, I've tried to open up the car for a bit and put the pedal to the floor. Each time I do that in Overdrive, it gets too close to the red zone for comfort. And when I get close enough I back off the pedal. Is it better to speed up quickly when overdrive is not turned on? I wanna have some fun you know....

I have an automatic, btw.

anything BEFORE redline is perfectly fine. 4 bangers love to rev up. just leave overdrive on unless you are like racing.

Well the reason I ask is because I don't want to redline in the high rpms... instead, I back off before it gets there. It seems the only way to pedal to the metal is if I am NOT in overdrive... then it gets to 5000 rpms and zooms off. But then again you need to switch into overdrive when you get up there in speed.

I'm just trying to figure out how to make this car run well without destroying the engine on it.

hmm, im not gonna get into any technical stuff...do you mean just getting the pedal to the floor? or you want to get it there fast? cause yeah, if you press that thing hard, the RPMs shoot up,...but, if you are patient, you can get the pedal all the way down, and hold it there...i think the RPMs will be at about 5k...and it will eventually creep up to around 117 mph


as to OD, i really dont ever use it, i forget its there...

thanks for the useful advice. I'll figure it out eventually. I've got to take her out this weekend, get her nice and warmed up and let loose on the highway somewhere... I did get her up to about 100 or so the first week I had her (she's got 27k on her already) and I got scared and slowed down cuz I was in the city.

hahaha yeah, i dont think i would have the guts to go over 100 in the city either


sorry if you've said it...but do you have any mods?
