PCV Valve

Has anyone changed their PCV valve yet? I looked through the manual and can't find the replacement interval, is it wise to change it everytime you do an oil change, or is that too frequent. Also if someone can tell me where it is on out engines please. Thanks.

easy...theres not one. see the hose that goes from your intake to the top of the valve cover....well that is as close as it gets....thats the vent....but there is no actual valve.

So what's a PCV valve normally do?

PCV - Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve.

if you look on an older V-8 you will see a hose that runs from one of the valve covers up to just below the carborator, or throttle body....where the hose enters the valve cover there is usually a cartridge type check valve...that is the PCV valce....all it did was allow any presure that built up in the crankcase due to blow by on the rings or valve stem seals to vent up under the carb. Since our motors do not have a direct connection to the crankcase, because we have overhead cams and there are no pushrod, all we have is the vent hose to keep the valve cover from becoming presurized and any presure is vented off to the intake.
