pcv and check engine light

so i replaced the pcv valve in my 02 p5 and when i started it up and went to drive away my check engine light cam on and the engine started to sound like it wanted to die the rpms kept dropping then it would rev up and drop again ...any clue what is going on

Did you somehow manage to install it backwards? Put the old one back in and see what happens. If that doesn't do anything pull the code and post it here.

All you did was replace the old pcv with a new one?

Did you have the CEL and other symptoms before changing it?

yep all i did was replace the old one ...that had fallen apart ...and the CEL cam on after running the new one for like 2 or 3 minutes

It looks to me as if its not on all the way anybody else notice this? Have you had the code read yet?

Is the other end of the hose still plugged in? It's possible that you accidently dislodged the other end or even knocked some other connection off. It sounds like a pretty big vaccuum leak to me.
