122 Vega

Retired MSP Racer!
:
03 Mazdaspeed Protege #1668,2005 Mini Cooper S, 75 Cosworth Vega
This is the car I paid for! THe difference is unbeleivable. No bogging, no hesitation, more midrange power. I can easily accelerate in fifth gear now where I had to downshift before. The overall drivability of the car is wonderful. I have to go put my Injen back on now to realize it's gain too, I have a feeling I was missing out on that too!

Very Happy,

Britt

No, all stock, I was going to up the boost, but it feels like my MSP just got a kick in the ass.

The download from MNA is missing the Patch File, so they will have to call and get it seperately. Mazda is trying to fix that right now. I got there at 8 am, the Speed tech (yes there is only one guy who works on my car) said he couldn't get the Patch file downloaded, so I would have to come back. On the way home, he called me and asked me to turn around cause he got it fixed.

I took in an assortment of sodas and water and a dozen donuts for the service guys, they were super nice and even noticed a coolant leak that I hadn't noticed from the heater hoses and ordered the part to fix it. They also did my oil change without me asking because it was almost due (100 miles more) and comped it because I had to make two trips.

This experience almost makes up for the time they blamed this hesitation on my turbo timer!

Britt

Dam I would gladly pay for donuts and soda if I could get any dealer around here to even aknowledge what I'm saying, hell I would even buy pizza.....LOL

It cost $16 and it was well worth it, I won't ever have to butt heads with them again!

Yes there was, I wasn't able to really run it, my baby was in the car, but I did notice it getting on the freeway. I wasn't expecting much from the flash. I also noticed that the same foot pressure that used to keep me at 60 mph now will creep up to 80 mph in no time. i didn't notice because the car runs smoother.

Britt

Hurry up and rack up some miles on that thing so we can get a "longer term" view of it. My car got a kick in its ass too when I just recet the ECU. Hopefully your kick in the ass will stick around though, lol!

Yeah I kinda agree with you Newman...
I am wondering the same thing.

122Vega: Did you leave your Turbo Timer in when you brougth it in?

Did they even open the hood for anything?

I have an Injen CAI and Blitz Dual TT...... and i know they cant refuse me the flash because of either of those but I don't feel like having to b**** at someone at 9am.

I have a question about the CAI. Do you think the flash will change what gains the CAI yielded or should it have no affect ?

I took my Injen off, the turbo timer I left on but disabled it to be nice to the tech. It only takes 15 minutes to take the Injen off, so why tempt the "Warranty Police?"

I think that the Injen will have a great gain with the flash, when my baay calms down I will go put it back on.

I will be putting in the colder plugs as insurance.

Just put my stock intake back in....... havent had to do it before and forgot a few things so it took me a few minutes to remember what goes where lol..... still only took 15 mins to do

PS: I hate putting couplers on turbos grrr..... our turbo is a b**** to get to

So Vega (and anybody else that has the flash), how does the car feel under acceleration when you hit 3200 or so RPM? That is where the biggest dip in power was and from the dyno we have it appears that that dip was not flattened much if at all after the flash. Do you feel that dip in power there?

You can feel the advance allow the car to start pulling right before 3000. The onset of boost is seemless. I do not feel that dip that you see on the dyno. The car just pulls to redline, where before it felt like a roller coaster on the way and would seem to run out of breath before 6000. If you take an old baseline dyno with the huge 20 ftlbs dip from 3000-5200 and draw a line from the drop off at @3000 to the return at @5200 that is what it feels like. Just accelerates smooth like it should.

My Injen is back on, gotta go try it out.
