PCM Flash - First Impressions

I'm still gonna hold off for a while and enjoy 12-13psi instead of 9psi until some other people get it done and start upping the boost. I'm not gonna be a ginnie pig and blow my engine when for the past month and over 3000 miles ive not had a single problem with 12psi and I eat mustangs like it's no ones business.

I also noticed that the same foot pressure that used to keep me at 60 mph now will creep up to 80 mph in no time. i didn't notice because the car runs smoother.

Britt

That doesn't really make sense to me...

Well with 20 more ft lbs of torque at a given throttle position/rpm, you are likely to accelerate instead of cruising. I am saying that if I push the little pedal down the same it goes faster than it did before.

No, all stock, I was going to up the boost, but it feels like my MSP just got a kick in the ass.

Britt

bleh, i want a kick in the ass...

err :(

WOW, the last I heard, this wasn't out yet. So when I go to pick up my car cover, they should have this available to do? Shouldn't Mazda send out letters to all MSP owners telling them about this & how they can & should get it done at their local Mazdaspeed dealer?

Allrighty.. Bend over... Here it comes!!!

:D

(I think this is my first ever post like this... lol... damn.. you guys corrupt me )

:'(

okay, Injen installed, long drive tonight. I noticed that the car runs slightly hotter, the fan kicks on more often and about every 30 seconds or so the lights dimmed twice like a flash. The lights dimming thing stopped on the way home, I don't know if that is related or not.

Power is there, the Injen helped a bit, but not massively. I will watch these things over the next few days.

Britt

Thanks for the update...I'm thinking of getting an Injen, but can't decide between that or a SRI..

I'm with you, my only reason for not getting a CAI is if you look at a lot of turbo kits and turbo cars they all run SRI's, not to mention the whole 90degree bend that the Injen makes before air gets to the turbo. Who knows anymore....

Yeah there's an ongoing debate i guess. I'm sure each setup has its pros and cons..but I'm wondering which one is better overall for this particualar car..not scoobies and supras...

Notice that most of the new intakes for the STIs and the SRT4s are CAI. I thought that was interesting.

Britt

That means nothing, a smart company will build what people will buy.
They are making CAI's because that's what people want.

yea if your gettin a front mount i would say get the sri, but if your keeping the stock it would be best to stay with a cai so it can help with sucking colder air to make up for the quick heatsoak.
either way lets not make this thread about intakes...;)

Just wanted to say that I got the flash! So far, I am very impressed. Like mentioned before, the gains are felt from about 3,000rpm to redline. I would suggest that everyone get the flash. It took about 1 hour for the dealer to complete it and it was worth it!!!!

I am scheduled to have mine done on Wednesday morning. Could have got it done early but my schedule is upredictable. Hope it is as good as everyone is saying it is.

Geo Spectrums and stock MSPs. The Mustang GT is both faster in the 1/4 and faster 0-60, it's as simple as that. Now the new ECU will probably close that gap and make it VERY close.
