partial throttle lag/hesitation popping sputtering???

Well I was also going to add to this problem I didn't notice this before but during this sputtering the boost jumps all over the place between 5 and 10. even when I hold the throttle steady. My mechanic said I might want to go back to mazda and check the throttle position sensor. Its an idea just wondering if this makes sense to anybody else.

was this problem ever solved? i just installed my split second afc today and i am having sputtering problems in 2 and 3.. i have't tested my car enough to have a a test in 4th and 5th? has anyone concluded that its a vacuum leak?

same thing is happening to me. I've checked my hoses, and they are fine. I have the SS AFC as well, but it is not tuned to my car. I hope that might get rid of this problem.

that is exactly what I am thinking about doing myself, how much did you give for it? and did you trade your MSP in? If so, what did they give you for that?

I didn't include the MSP in the deal as a trade in but they are buying it from me for $14,000 as soon as I finish converting it back to stock.

Have you check you cat converter, if its aftermarket they tend to burn up or melt down after a year. that happened to me. Was getting hesititaion at 80mph but could blow past it if it floored it. also got the popping backfire sounds as well. just a suggestion

ive got this same s*** and its annoying as hell, just thought id add to the list. really makes for a pain in the ass for a car trip. i hope its not a compression issue, that would suck big time, but im al a loss on it too! oh and my cat is gutted but i definately get the backfire popping a lot as well too.

Thats a pretty good trade in price! which model rx-8 did you get? and what did you give for it, I only ask to gain an idea of what to expect when I goto the dealership.
