panel filter/exhaust vs. intake/exhaust

Whenever I do a search on this topic I always find intake/exhaust combos w/dyno numbers. But nothing on having K&N panel filter(or another brand)/exhaust combos.

Does anybody have any dyno #s to compare them?

Some people have the panel filter (I included) and have seen immediate results. Though I've been wanting an intake FOREVER (things get in the way), I am beginning to wonder if it will be any different from the panel filter setup.

I know sound&looks are a big thing...but are performance gains really that noticeable over a high-flow panel filter?

I had both a panel filter and an Injen intake. The panel filter doesn't give you the crisp throttle response of the Injen, or any open-element intake. Whereas the panel filter offered barely noticable gains, the Injen helped a tiny bit. Nothing major, though.

So it's a definite increase in throttle response but not so much power. I guess that's the consensus everybody's been taking on it.
