I got the unit and installed it yesterday. It does fit, but just barely. It's actually the cover for the rear support screw that keeps it from sitting in the dash perfectly. That, and the wires want to push it out. I'll have to rearrange the wires to the sides so it doesn't put pressure on the back of the unit. I took some pics late last night after fiddling w/it for a while, but was too tired to down load them. I'll post 'em later.
So far after 1 day of use I'm generally happy w/it. It's pretty intuitive to use, unlike the Kenwood and Pioneer units I've used before. The 2 times a year that I'd adjust the clock on the Kenwood I'd have to read the manual again 'cause it's buried deep in the menu system.
I mainly listen to my ipod, and the scrolling/song selection process is way better than the other units I've used to controll the ipod. Searching through playlists, artists or songs is really easy and quick with the touch screen control. I don't have to disconnect the ipod to find a particular song (out of the 2200+ I have on it now) and the reconnect it to listen to it like I had to w/the Kenwood. That's key.
The DVD player spools up quickly, too, and it has a dolby digital processor. Sound is great, but the picture quality isn't as good as I thought it would be. No biggie, 'cause I don't plan on using it much.
For sound processing the 7-band EQ is pretty good, although I liked the 3-band System Q-EX EQ better due to it's frequency selection and Q-factor changes you could make. The 2V pre-outs are weak as well. I'm driving the speakers w/the internal amp, and it seems to be loud enough without distortion, although I haven't push it really hard yet.
Panasonic doesn't have a Nav unit yet, but they're supposed to soon. Hopefully it won't cost an arm and a leg. I have a cheapie Nav unit already, so I'm not dying for Panasonic to release theirs.
Overall I'm happy with it 'cause it looks cool, sounds good, and has enough adjustability to keep my ears happy.
