Painting roof black or vinyl wrap - anyone done this?

Wondering if anyone has done this to a 6? Thinking of getting it done on my white Mazdaspeed6 (6MPS) but haven't found any pics to see what it looks like on a white or light-coloured car. My car is in the process of being blacked out (rims, tail lights, indicators, grille etc) and was thinking the black roof would complement this nicely. Thoughts? Classy? Too rice?

Yes, Fiber Images does it for $660 without a moonroof, and slightly more for one with the moonroof. Vinyl would be a cheap, reversible imitation to do it, and change the look too. I think it would look alright on a car that has other parts done to accent it.

Here's a pic that I wouldn't mind someone photoshopping. Seems to be similar to what you are looking for, just missing the black roof. I would liek to see how it looks as well. I have considered the black top.

Didn't come out that good... the original pic had a difficult source of lighting to work with... in this photo the roofs look really bright with reflections from the water and sky...

If someone has another pic I could give it another shot

I think it would look cool but is it really worth the effort / money??? You can't really see it that well. I would rather stick that money into a nice CF or black hood or trunk.

Doesn't look too bad. I think if the mirrors were also black it might look better. The money to get it done doesn't seem worth it to me either which is why I haven't done it.

I had a car 4 door car that i had the entire top portion of the car (from btm of the window up) painted in satin black, the car was silver. This thread got me thinking about doing the same to my silver MS6. Any photoshopers bored and want to attemp to duplicate this in a picture on a silver ms6? Thanks

With our 101 ambient (111 w/ humidity) temperature that we have today in St. Louis, I can only imagine how much hotter my car would be with a black roof. FML

that was a good photoshop actually... to the average schmo they certainly wouldnt notice it being "too bright" or anything like that.

i've seen black roofs done on many white cars and in different finishes like matte as well as gloss.
Overall looks real good with dark rear/side windows and front windshield strip.
blackened side view mirrors makes it look good too, as was mentioned.

i say DO IT!! if you can find a place MUCH cheaper than $660, thats insane!
find a local reputable place, you can get it done for anywhere from 100-300.

I'm still on the fence for wether I would do it or not. I dont like how our cars have that point on the top of the windshields. Kinda kills the smooth look when you black it out.

Honestly, i think it wouldnt look to good. If you had a carbon hood and carbon trunk, it would like alright but its kinda pointless to put money into that. Id rather get some engine parts or something for the outside. IMO
