Hey guys,

I'm about 2 weeks away from changing out all 4 tires so I did an experiment as I love the yellow letter tires on the NASCARs. I know these look better on a mag wheel but wanted to get all your opinions on how this looks. Wondering if I would get tired of this look over time or not.

thats pretty cool what did you use to write on the tire car needs low and then it would look a lot better thats my 2 cents though

Nice. The Rolex and Continental series have yellow letters on the edge of the tires as well. I think it looks pretty cool.

Well I was a little desperate to get them painted ASAP as I have a slow leak in my front right and left rear tires so I didn't have time to buy the duplicolor pen and wait for it to be shipped. I went out and bought this Krylon Fusion Yellow Spray paint. I degreased the sidewalls as best I could but years of using tire shine made that virtually impossible. I then sprayed inside a cut gatorade bottle and then hand painted the lettering. It's virtually impossible to paint inside the letters without getting it all over so I didn't tape of or any of that. Once dry, I just took some 220 sandpaper and scrubbed off all the excess outside the lettering and it came out great. As I drove the next morning it began to peel off almost instantly. Prolly a combination of grease still on tire and wrong prouct. At least I got a visual of what it would look like...debating on doing it on my next brand new set. I'm going just with Goodyear Eagle GT's as I drive through Philly every day and it's not worth it to me to spend $250 per tire when it's just a matter of time before the next nail or screw works it's way into my tire. Friggin city driving...that's my rant for the day...

You should give something like this a shot: http://www.michaels.com/Sharpie-Oil-Based-Paint-Pen/gc1650,default,pd.html

I use them to write on my track and winter tires when they aren't mounted. You can get them at a local craft store and they should hold up well. I wrote on the side walls of my winter tires a year ago and you can still see "RF" on the side. Plus since it's a pen it'll be super easy to apply.
