Painted my RC Hood

looks cool if you decide to change it. you should try a candy sort of like these
i painted these for my honda del sol that i was building. i ended up sanding off the one with skulls and did the regular flames. i mixed some silver mini flake in with the candy apple red, thats what the specks are(they dont show up that well with the camera but look awsome in the light

Nice DelSol, I'm not a fan of regular flames, or extensive air-brushing... I figure its overplayed... but I figured CF flames were unique, that's why I agreed to doing then.... never seen CF flames before, and its always fun to push the envelope on things (like my sub enclosure)

hope this delsol doesn't get driven a lot.

having a body kit that low,and molded on looks nice, but can e real bad when you hit something, like a speed bump.

the del sol does get driven and hold up just fine, i do body work and custom paint so if it does crack no big deal. but if you do it right it will last a long time. everything on that car is shaved and molded

corey

All except the Mazdaspeed and one inch by the glass...

very cool. painted cf is awesome. it says: "ya i got a cf hood, but i don't need to tell the world." stick it to the ricers! (thumb)

The weather in vancouver is crap today, and I head to whistler for the weekend tonight... I'll try to get that further away pic up come Monday

thanks it took a very long time and lots of work to mold everything, those rims were just to move it around when i was working on it. i am selling the car as parts only if somone is interested. it has corbeau fx1 seats in it right nw with the three point harness. dont have pics though

hey NVanP5, how exactly was that painted? did they sand everything down, cover up where the flames would be, paint, pull the cover over the flames, then clearcoat? just tryin to figure it out.

Yah, we sanded down the whole hood, and then taped off all the flames. We went through about five designs before we decided that the tribal look was the best. Then we painted the whole hood.. dried it... then added the air brushing... then we pealed the tape off and put the clear coat.

Next week I'm going in to sand the hood again, then apply a few more layers of clear coat. This process removes any bumps between the paint and cf flames.
