I was pissed when I got the car that saw that Mazda would ruin a nice design with the lame plastic under the rear bumper as a guard and front lip cover. Cost all of $150 at a local shop to prime and paint it. Pictures coming soon... Makes appearance HUGE Difference! My car is red btw...

Before you posted the photos, I kept telling myself that it wasn't needed. Now that I see your post, I think I'm going to have to do it. --Nice look.

The plastic really cheapened the look IMO. Be sure whoever does it lays down a nice layer of primer first, then uses your vin to look up the exact paint code. It took the shop a full day since the primer took really long to dry. $150, was the total cost not sure if you'll find it at that price, but to me, that was well worth it. I think they cut me a deal though because I have having major body work done on another one of my cars. Good luck!

Looks great! Do you have a pic of the rear of the car from further back? I think the black plastic is a little tacky too, but maybe to give the illusion of width???? Curious to see from the distance how it looks...thanks

I was washing my car today and noticed the black trim around the side mirrors... I think I may need to paint that too.

Does this bother anyone else?

Yes. I overlooked that when I took it in and forgot to get a quote for it. I'm not sure I'm going to trouble with it for just that and losing the car for a whole day. I know it's only a mtter of time before someone hits me though (a$$hole drivers texting here in the DC area, mother #$%$^ers...) so when that time comes, I'll knock that out at the same time... FYI, I've had 4 wrecks just this year, none of them my fault... So yes, I'm pesimistic about my chances...

That is the point of having the rear bottom unpainted. I liked it better with the black plastic. The front chin spoiler being painted I do love though. Looks like color match could be a bit better matched and there's a decent amount of orange peel.

Well to each his own. If one likes the look of flimsy plastic then cool. As to orange peel that's the texture of the bad plastic mazda put on there and I aint breaking the bank to correct the flaw. If anything this small $150 gets the car closer to the proto type!
