Driving on the 401 yesterday and some semi hit went close to the guard rail and threw up a bunch of sand, it was like a sand storm  . When I got home I found a chip out of my hood, I am so pissed off, less than 24 hrs and already got a ding on it

guess I will have to use touch up on it :(

Sorry dude.

My windshield got broken on my last roadtrip this past weekend. That should be exspensive.

I feel your pain...it sucks. I've got a whole buffet of stone chips if it makes you feel any better. Mazda paint seems a little more prone to chipping than other cars. Most of my chips are on the front bumper cover and the hood.

I don't wash my car almost every week just to keep it clean, it gives me a chance to keep me updated on all new scratches/chips that seem to come at about a 1/week rate:mad:

I'm not even going into all the marks caused by other door-banging a-holes:mad:

I had my first chip a few days after getting my MSP.
Found another chip yesterday.
On the plus side, the touch-up paint that was on backorder is here to me to pick up!
Now I can do the touch-ups, and get a thick coat of wax on this beast!

You're not alone...

same here.. 4 chips on my hood!!!!

But is it only mazda? or it's everyone car?...I search a bit in other forums...seems like everyone having paint problems...

I feel for you,

I just got back from a trip this weekend I counted over 5 bad chips and a rock smashed my windshield and cracked it already

Thats why i bought the hood deflector...did one trip without it and my hood has numerous chips and its about a month old.

Paint is not what it used to be. Even more so on Japanese cars. Even my last few honda, you could see the difference in paint. It's like it's just getting thinner and thinner. My last Honda (red) was a lot worse for chips, and swirls, and anything that was plastic faded quickly. The mp3 doesn't seem as bad so far. the Windshield on the Honda was really bad too, the slightest bit of sand that hit it would chip it. I've had a deflector on the mp3 since I got it, so it seems to be helping.

My father has an Accord V6 coupe, red with spoiler, and stock ground effects kit. All the ground effects are faded really bad. car is only 3-4 yrs old, has 60,000 kms on it. Mirrors are almost pink they are that bad on the thing.

Get a hood deflector, it'll save your hood, and windshield.

tekkie, i drive on the 401 everyday....
My first paint chip is on the right side of my A pillar when a semi passed me on the side and throw a nice stone on my car. It was soo loud when it hit my car i knew it had to be a chip.
It's something that are unavoidable....:(

Now, i have soo many chips i lost count!!
I don't even have touch up paint.

I just went to get my touch up paint, I have to wait a week for it, it was only 5 bucks, that suprised the $hit out of me, that sounds way to cheap

yeah, it's around 5 something dollars....

how much were you expecting? 7-10$?

Because I think I paid 7 dollars for a nissan touch up paint back in 1995.

Yeah the paint REALLY sucks. I have about 30-40 tiny little chips on my front bumber and about ten larger chips on bumper and hood. I never had this problem on my past three cars. I went and got that Lanqka stuff for the chips and it works really well. The only problem is when you fix the chips by the end of the next week you have a crapload more.

Where do you get the bug deflector, and does anyone have pics of it installed on a Black Mica model??? I got quite a few scratches.

You guys arn't alone!

Us Nissan guys have REALLY thin paint too...

I've noticed alot of chips, then I touched them up with touch up paint, then removed the old wax, and used the 3 Step Mcguires Wax, with Gold Class Wax at the end. 2 coats.

It looks so much better, and it seems REALLY less prone to chips, I have none, and it's REALLY sandy and dusty here.

Where can I get touch up paint for the MP3? I didn't buy the car from the Mazda Dealership, since I recently bought it used, so I feel awkward asking the dealership for help. Should I just go?
