2002 mazda P5
I am makeing this thread mainley to document the work and progress of my 2002 Protege5 auto I bought about six months ago for $1200, It came with a safty that was two months before it expired, so i decieded to drive it until it ran up, then I would do the work thaat need to be done for quite some time. I am the second owner, the first owner dident take very good care of it form the day he bought it, never had it under coated, was a chain smoker and had two huge Dogs that have fur eveywhere and not to mention ripped apart the rear seats.

Here is what it look like when i first bought it..

Hated the look of he stock auto shifter so i added shift boot and shift nob that i had kicking around, then that was it before the safty ran out..

Now that the safty ran out the real woork begins, rear wheel wells are pritty rotted so i took the rear bumper of and found alot more rot problems them i thought there was but what the hell its got to be fixed.

Yes the the plate border is shaved i did that wile being bored one day, but its got to be redone again with a strip of metal, the tiger hair keeps cracking because the factory plastic peace keeps flexing..

the factory wheels did come with the car but they had alot of curb damage on them so i sold them, ill be looking in to getting a set of aftermarket wheels after the car gets painted, probably stick with a 16 inch rim though..

Up Date April 1st

well i dident really have much time to take to many pics.

My brother kinda diched out on me and half assed the welds, but luckey for me he left his welder in my garage so I ended up finishing up the welding, then after that was done I sprayed Ruberized under coating ove all of it, let that dry while I was at work then i seam sealed over all the welds and any where else that needed to be done, I aso sprayed the inside of the frame with fluid film to help the rust that is in there to slow down..

After the seam sealer dryes I will be coating it again with ruberized undercoating, them once that is all over I will be starting to work on the wheel wells..

Damn, props to you for saving the car, seems to be a lot of work but worth it if you get waht you want out of it. Good work on the welding and everything. It'll be cool to see the final product and how far you've come on it.

Maybe we do, they just aren't called that. Now what is it?! :)

It basicley the goverment sucking our money, every two years here you need to have your car checked over for any thing that coud cause it to be unsafe for the roads and so that you know that you have some things wrong with the car, things they look for are, body rot, horn, tires, bushings, balljoints, all light must work..ect and they also through in a sweet sticket for your front window indaicating that the car has passed a reutine safty inspection...

Hope that helps
