if you have full coverage it should cover it, just expect your premiums to increase...but damn dude that sucks...unless you can find away for that log to jump out in front of you to be considered an "act of god"

depending what your deductable is and how much the damage is. I wouldn't go through insurance if you have like a $1000 deductable. PLus if the damage is over your deductable, find out if your insurance will rise from this claim because if it rises too much then pay for it yourself. You might get a cool person on the phone and he/she wont raise your insurance.
fixing bumper itself from dealer will costs about $700(painting and installation included)
