p5 top speed

i am not sure if it has been said before but the p5 has a top speed limiter at 132-133mph. i was doing a top speed run and the p5 hit fuel cutoff or the limiter at 132-133

yes, this has been discussed millions of times, and NO the p5 does not have a speed limiter, its drag limited/gear limited only.

Speed limiter sucks. It's the only real problem I have now. I can set there very fast but because of my extra injector controller, and the fact that it is independent of the ECU, if I hit the speed limiter I will detonate because the fuel cut is not complete. Yikes...

This has been covered numerous times...

There is a fuel shot off at red-line on the Protege 5, but no speed limiter. It is gear limited to about 142 mph.

Your speedo is not as accurate as you think, neither is your tack...

get a gps to really tell how fast you are going, they are way better then factory speedo's once you hit 100+

I doubt the MP3/PR5 have unaccurate speeds over 100+. The car came with a tuned suspension, with other goodies. Plus i'm sure if the car were to be at unaccurate speed's, it'll probably be at 140-150+mph which any protege will never reach. The only way you'll have unaccurate speed's on any car is if you replace your tire size to a smaller or bigger size than the factory suggested.

tritonheat1- ANY stock speedometers suck after 100mph, doesn't matter what suspendion or other "goodies" you have. and once you get bigger rims/tires, that throws it off even more.

Agreed. you might be right, but i doubt that a speedometer would be unaccurate at speed's over 100+mph. Like i said to me, if you were going speed's over 140-150mph then i'd understand, but that's my opinion.;)

its been proven in many cars, just by people taking gps's in their car running it along with stock speedo's and getting incorrect numbers out of the speedo. once you add bigger rims, then it will be off alot more then stock also.

Speedo's only need to be accurate up to like 80 or 100 or something to meet regulations, because no one's supposed to legally go that fast. After that though, they can be pretty far off...

Not to sound like a Jerk or get off topic or anything, but that's like you saying, i ran less than 100mph in the 1/4mile. say i ran a 14.1@101mph. you're completely saying my speed is off. IMO that's a bunch of bs. If you do have any gps stat's on the side of the highway, that checks your speed "go find one and test it out. everytime i get near one my radar goes off, and when i see it coming up the speed's are right on. i did 90mph and it said i was doing 90. So i don't know if the speed would be off if i was to go 100+mph, don't wanna try that.

if you run 101 in the 1/4 and look down and your speedometer reads 101 excactly the time you pass the finish line(which is really hard to tell when you are going so fast) then ill take my arguement off =)

Never stated that your quote was wrong, i was just simply putting it in another way of describing how you were saying speed's after 100+mph were unaccurate. To me in my opinion i don't think speed's are unaccurate, but that's me. I might be wrong, but oh well.

well once i get my gps, ill test it out. and give the results.

Schweet! maybe then we will find out the real answer! Only time will tell. Lol hopefuly soon you'll be getting your Gps. Can't afford one right now.:(

are we talking about normal Gps where it tells you where to go and such, if so, thats not a good arguement either, most b/c they are accurate up to 5m at best, so i would say the ONLY way to truley know is to have some clock you with a good radar gun.

They aren't saying the "speed" is not accurate...

They are saying the speedometer is not accurate over 100 mph.
