P5 Hitch Photo?

I've done a few searches and read a few threads on putting a hitch on the Protege5. I'm thinking about adding a Draw-Tite class I reciever to my 03 P5 manual, but I've seen some ugly installs on small cars with low bumpers, like ours. Anyone have photos of the Draw-Tite or other hitch system in place on the car? I just worry about it clearing the bottom of the bumper. Thanks.

what about this -- never mind the rack -- i was testing it to get an idea of what kind of tongue i needed --- and it clears just fine ----

Warning--

if you have an after market exhaust -- it WILL rub unless you modify the hitch or the tailpipe --- mine is off at the moment till i get to the shop ---
I have the RB catback -- so others might be different but i thought i should warn you -----

Bones: Thanks for the photos... It looks like it touches the bottom of the bumper cover without deforming it in any way... Is the correct? Looks nice and subtle.

it does not touch with the cover off ---

in the 1st pic -- the plastic cover is on and it will rub just a hair but you dont have to use it ---

Whats the point?????? Can't tow anything with it

UHHHH...... look at the picture again (smash) If you look ever so closely you can see the words BIKE CARRIER in big ****** yellow letters

Why?

I sometimes need to move things that won't go in the Protege. I'm also getting into a buisiness that will require me to get full-size work trucks from one place to another... Before you ask, that means towing an unladen tow dolly to the truck using the P5, then towing the P5 with the dolly. If I could find a folding tow dolly that fit in the P5, that would be cool too. It would not involve ever towing another vehicle with the P5.

I'm also anticipating a move and the U-Haul sport trailer or their smallest box trailer would be ideal for the job.

Plus, it gives me a choice for carrying a kayak and two bikes.

I'd like to get a clip of the rear end of another MSP and tow it to shows.... and fill the 2nd trunk with TV's and video games and such haha

good question -- bye just what that says i would have to say for the hitch -- ill see if i can find any listings for the car to compare --

but i dont think they would make something that would hurt the car -- but better to be safe than sorry -- :)

That rating on the hitch or the frame of the car has NOTHING to do with what you can actually tow. Take, for example, the GMC Sierra pickups. The 1500 and the 2500 have the exact same frame, but the 1500 can tow about 7000 and the 2500 can tow 12,500. The thing that makes this possible is the transmission/engine/suspension. Our cars are designed to handle groceries and kids. To put a strain of 2000 lbs on the tranny and engine of our cars would be suicide. And I for one would have a good hearty laugh when you came back on here bitching about how your tranny blew or your frame bent from towing too much.
