P5 brakes for autocross

:
Mazda Protege 5
So I plan on doing a little bit of a brake overhual here in the next few weeks. I have been looking at the boards to kind of get a idea for some pads for autocross useage but still usable for everyday street use. Theres lots of threads but I dont really want to swap brakes and rotors just for autocross, most of the threads are about track day brakes. I think what is on there right now are some Raybestos rotors and i think ceramic pads.

Also, what would be a good brake fluid to replace what is in there now with? MY car is in need of a brake bleed, but probably even more new fluid so I want to do a full system bleed/refill.

Thanks for the help,
John

I like the hawk hps for all aorund driving and autocross. Little dusty, but work great.
I also like valvoline supersyn brake fluid, works good and not expensive

There's no need to swap pads and rotors for autocross. In autocross, runs are not long enough to have the same kinds of concerns you do on a road course, so you need something that does not need a lot of heat to bite, just like you might on the street. Aggressive street pads should be fine for the most part.

The ceramic pads will probably be fine, I've got a set on my car currently. Though the hawk HPS was much better.

Sorry if I wasn't clear--I wasn't saying he should stick with the ceramics, I was assuming that when he said "I dont really want to swap brakes and rotors just for autocross, most of the threads are about track day brakes." he meant the advice in many of the threads found here about swapping pads and sometimes rotors at the track before a track day. That's not necessary, and any good fluid will do.

Pads for autocross are all about initial bite and feel, as any pad is going to give you the braking power you will need to overwhelm the limits of the tires. On my '99 Si, I could break the 205 R-comps loose while braking very easily with crappy ceramic pads.

Use EBC Greenstuff of Hawk HPS pads with blank rotors.

That Valvoline syntec fluid is good stuff. You can pick it up at most autopart stores for less than $10 for a qt.
