P5 Alternative to a Quiet Exhaust

pics of magnaflow? I have the Mazdaspeed axleback right now, andthe 6 hour drive to/from school is sorta annoying with the drone.

I got Magnaflow catback on my P5. It was very quiet almost as quiet as stock until I burn it in about 500 miles. Now It is very nice and deep. Inside it is still pretty quiet. As far as the looks this is the best looking catback I have seen it so far. It fits perfectly. All you see is only a nice big fat chrome tip. The rest is really hidden. I paid for mine $320 brand new shipping included . I am happy with it now after burning process. I am going to take some pix.

This muffler is not the one in magnaflow catback setup. The one in catback has couple offsets on a tip pipe so you only see a tip. This is how magnaflow catback looks.

Yeah I used to love my Mazdaspeed but ever since I tried to have a conversation in the car with another person instead of just blasting the music, I've been determined to get rid of it somehow.

does racing beat drone on the highway at all? (3500 to 4000 rpms) And also does anyone have an obx header with a racing beat exhaust that can say "it's quiet" because if so then I know what I'm saving for this summer

now i feel great about the header and rb exhaust that is lying in my basement waiting to be installed

I've got the Racing Mazda header-> Random Tech cat-> RB exhaust and it's all quiet low rumble goodness. If you keep a cat you should be good.

I agree, I have the AWR header ---> stock 2nd cat ----> RB catback...is it louder than stock? A little, yes under throttle it has an aggressive rumble. Just because the header. Does it drone? NO. Does it sound good YES.

I must say i have an HKS axel back and love it. $200 cheaper than the RB, and with the silencer in it, its a quite as stock (even on the highway). The fit isnt perfect, it angles up and to the right a bit. But i must say its a really nice piece, and for $295 new... hey! Just my $.02

Anyone know where the cheapest place to by the Racing Beat catback is? Seems like the only places I can find it are asking 400+.

I had the Mazdaspeed Aftermarket Exhaust on my P5 for the past two years and had it on my sedan for one year. I had to get about 4 inches cut off when i purchased my PR5; easy job.

I got sick of the sound after having it for 3 years and i am getting older. I actually traded it for the stock MSP axle-back and am getting it chopped maybe tomororw?

I hate having the stock pipe back on......looks funny being so small.

I am sure you can find many MSP exhausts on this board for pretty cheap and spend $20 to get it fit for the P5 and you will save a lot of money.....will let you know when i put mine on.

MazdaSpeed exhaust

I've got the MSP and it's too loud inside the car, but not bad outside. I'm planning on putting some Dynamat in the rear compartment and on the hatch to see if that helps. If nothing else, it'll be real quiet if I finally get rid of the MSP.

from what i've read, i don't think dynamat will do much to make it quieter. correct me if i'm wrong, but i think dynamat is more for reducing the panels from vibrating and not sound insulation. someone here used a bunch of carpet padding to quiet the car down.

did this........did not help with my mazdaspeed aftermarket exhaust!

Did you do carpet padding, Dynamat or the Dynamat Extreme? where did you put it? Obviously I don't want to go back to stock OR spend $400 for the RB.
