p0171 Bank one too lean

No the leaking fuel injector wasn't causing my check engine light. I was just merely mentioning it as it could be part of the puzzle. I think that my injectors are fine. My car 60,000 miles on it and the car run smooth at idle. It doesn't really do anything out of the ordinary other than popping the CEL light.

i am having the same two codes P0171 and P0660 (spiced msp) did you ever figure it out

i haven't had time too, things keep popping up left and right at work so I have not been able to see if it works. I will let you know soon. I have heard stories of our ECU storing codes or something like that so, I did reset my ECU to see if the same codes come back.

Dealing with the same right now.

I came up with these errors in the middle of last week. Unfortunately I am too damn busy lately with work and planning a wedding to get to skittle to the dealer. I know that they will **** me with God knows what to fix them.

The strangest thing is I have driven a full tank with these two codes and finally got my dream mileage out of the car. I went from 26.5 mpg to 30.3 mpg. Almost too good to get it fixed. Needless to say boosting has been limited to about 700 revs and max 4K at any one time. So maybe its the baby'n

I want to try my best to figure this out with out a trip into the shop. Parts shop yes, service shop no. Can you help?

Please add to my list if you know what you are talking about.

Checked all vacuum tubing that I could find with starter fluid. All good.

Read post about a bypass valve under/inside the manifold - felt it but cant really see it. I suspect it could be broken (no reason why it would break), I do hear kind of a hissing noise in that area. mentioned in a post somewhere.

Checked VICS solenoid connectors. They are good (think they are green and white) DONT KNOW HOW to check the resistance. I do have a volt meter, any advice? - Remove it first?

Pulled o2 Sensor - Looked at it, don't know what it should look like. Looks like 80k miles to me. What am I looking for, for that matter what would you clean it with.

Based on what I read it is one of four things to solve both codes
Vacuum leak, bypass thingy, VICS solenoid failure, or o2 sensor.

Hit me with your best advise!

A 4 cyl engine only has bank1. Bank 2 is for v-engines. System lean can be caused by a dirty maf, but I would check all vaccuum lines and fittings. There might be a leak in your intake tubing, manifold gasket, or even a sensor o-ring.

Ok carrotsnax idk if this will fix your problem but it is for sure Spiced MSP's problem.

Under the intake manifold is a vacuum line with a 1way bypass valve going from Bank 1 to bank 2. If it is broken all the air will go into bank 1 (To Lean) And no air will go into Bank 2 (To Rich)

These pics were taken with a iphone so there crap but should at least give you an idea

Ok here is the bypass valve (broken)

The Red Circle is where you can take a mirror and see the actual vac line, The neon green is where the actual bypass valve and vac line are but under the top of the manifold

And here is an attempt to get a pic of my new one. (Tight fit)

Does anybody know precisely what this bypass valve is called or have a part number? Thanks.
