Outdoor Temp Display Reads High

My temperature display always shows about 5 degrees higher than the actual air temperature even when sitting in the shade and even after driving it for awhile. Previous cars have always been very accurate. Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a way to adjust it? Thx

Is this the case, even after the car's been sitting, overnight? How are you measuring ambient temp?

The sensor is inside the bumper. If your car idles in the shade, it might display high temp number than it actually is due to heat dissipation.

I've got the same problem. It seems to be quite erratic, reading much warmer some days than either my wife's 2011 Accord or any of our outdoor thermometers (yet almost the same on other days.) I thought Mazda was being nice and displaying something more of a "RealFeel" temperature, rather than the actual ambient air temp.

I used to check the outdoor temp on my 2007 Civic quite frequently, but since buying the 2014 Mazda3, I tend to use my phone since the car's sensor doesn't seem very precise or accurate.

I hear that the tech package includes more accurate temp sensors...........:)

The sensor on the 2014s are flaky imo unlike in previous generation models. I experience what others here reported: erratic and too high. Dealer says they have a lot of complaints on that but there is no fix at the moment.

Try relocating the sensor behind the upper grill, you get the best reading at that point. before had it between the hood and headlamp, relocated and good reading

That's where the sensor was located in previous Mazda3s. For whatever reason (must be a good reason) Mazda engineers felt it was best to have it at it's current location. I wouldn't mess with it.
