Ouch--low January sales!

CX-9 sales:

December 2007: 3066
January 2008: 1850

As a comparison, GMC Acadia sales:

December 2007: 7393
January 2008: 7318

What happened?
 
I just checked numbers for the Saturn Outlook and Buick Enclave: they are both down significantly from December numbers, so it's just the Acadia that is the "anomaly".

No need for worry!
 
obviously the buyers did not drive the CX-9 and the Acadia as I did. I am partial to the American vehicle, keep the money local, but the Acadia has too many drive issues compared to the CX-9. Besides the GM dealers are too proud to come down on their price. Even with a family discount the 2007 Acadia I wanted to order was $5000 more than my CX-9 and it did not have all the options my mazda does.

I don't think the slump is any reflection on the CX-9 specifically.

I think a sales slump after the holidays is pretty normal for most brands. Many people are just in recovery mode after the holiday spending and, this year, the economy in the U.S. isn't giving people the warm fuzzies they need to go out and spend on big ticket items either.

I was just in my Mazda dealer getting the salt washed off (comp washes for life) and the service mgr said that they were selling CX-9's as fast as they could get them. I saw them doing two delivery walk throughs while I was there!
 
I think also everyone tried to jump on the 0% financing which expired on 1/2/08. That, plus the Motor Trend award commercial (the one with the choir) was playing ALL the time in December. After the New Year -- not so much.
