A couple weeks ago I noticed a couple 6-disc MP3 radios for sale on eBay for cheap, and bought one. Problem was, they were for a Mazda3.
Figured I'd try it anyways, since I got it for such a good deal.

So fast forward to last night at work. Pulled the stock single CD out, and plugged in the 6disc/MP3.

Guess what, it works!!!!!!!!! Kinda. Well, it works if you want to re-label all your radio buttons and not have a eject button for your CDs. Shame because it actually SOUNDED better.

So apparantly, the radios are all similar in construction, but something internally is different.

Rewind to a couple months ago. We had a tech that was doing the Sirius Satellite re-flash to a car and when he did it, he entered the wrong program and CHANGED THE FUNCTIONS OF THE BUTTONS.

Figuring I may be on to something, I used the reflash kit with the CX-7 files to try and re-flash my Mazda3 radio. Figured if you can program a radio to the wrong car, you can program the wrong radio to the right car.

BUT, one thing I neglected to check. The re-flash is only for CLARION units.

The Mazda3 radio I got from eBay is a Sanyo.

So, in THEORY, this should work. If I only had a Clarion radio.

Anyone got one and want to trade????

So basically this can be done if you have a friend at a Mazda dealer, and a CLARION radio from another Mazda (3, 5, and MX5 only) you want to put in your 7. Or whatever you have.

No I won't do it to your car if you bring it to me. Sorry (outie)

The Clarion units are for Bose sound only.

For CX7, yes. But not for the 3. There was a 6 disc Clarion bose with DIS, non-bose radio, and non-bose with DIS, BR9K-66-ARX, BR9G-66-ARX and BR9H-66-ARX respectivly.

I just wished I had checked it sooner.
