I subscribe to the SAE magazine; in the Sept issue there is an article about Ford's newest engine, the 3.5 L EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 in the new Taurus SHO [365 hp, 350 lb-ft tq] . It reads quite complimentary, a downright flattering discussion of Ford's technological tour de force. But...the bottom line is that its specific output is 104 hp/L. The MS3 engine produces 114 hp/L, an increase of 9.6%, AND it has been around for at least 3 years. Sounds to me like SAE picked the wrong engine to fawn over. I tell you, I get no respect, no respect at all...(stooges)

I doubt they would judge it based on the hp/L aspect alone. There's been plenty of engines that have been doing that for years... look at the S2000 when it was 2.0L, and that's NA.
