Ordered a CX-5

*sigh*

Emailed my salesman Thursday morning to ask for an update with no response. Today around 3pm I got annoyed at his lack of communication, it's been days! I understand he might not know anything, but at least tell me that rather than ignoring me. I finally texted him as he gave me his cell # previously. Right away he wrote back saying "sorry it's been hectic here, car status still says in production, no exact delivery date." I wrote back saying I wasn't looking for an exact date, but perhaps a round about time frame? Clearly it's taking longer than expected, any ideas...September, October What am I looking at here? Originally both him and the sales manager promised me mid to end of August...(which, again I know they have no control over) but really, just tell me something, anything! I got a response back saying, will try and get answers for me tomorrow, has a family emergency now (which isn't the first time I've heard this and then never heard back from him). Again, I understand he might really just have no clue, but I'd so much rather hear that then no answer at all or some half assed answer. I just want a general update of what they think at the least, if nothing else. Having zero idea about what's going on is just plain frustrating...especially when I see other people getting updates every 2 weeks, or ordering after me and getting them already! I really loved this dealer and this salesman when I started this process but now I don't know, they got my deposit and forgot who I was? Wouldn't they try to keep me happy to keep the sale?

LFebs519, if you ordered June 28, which is almost a month after I did, then yours should at least be produced by now and on the water. Arrival date of end of August is very premature, almost by a month, September is more realistic. If I were you I would stop askin the salesman, and go straight to the sales manager because he can go into Mazda mx-connect and look up the status...

Are you on the US East Coast as well? Remember my time frame could be different than yours depending on your location, except for producing the vehicle, which typically is the first month after ordering.

Thank you J carte for always responding! LOL- at least someone is! Like I said, I understand he might not know, but at least just tell me that- that's all I want. Yeah I was thinking about stopping in and asking to speak with the sales manager. I don't need an exact date but just a round about time frame- end of September, mid October...something like that, you know? Also the fact that he takes days to respond only after I harass the guy, then gives me a half assed answer saying he will look into it or get back to me, then again never does. I also sent this guy business! My best friend went and got a brand new Mazda 3 from him about 3 weeks ago. I'm just saying, how aren't you trying to keep me happy as a customer?
I was following your time frame and assuming mid September, so another 4 weeks from now. I am in upstate New York, Albany area. I recently read on another fourum here that suposedly someone in NJ was told Japan is backed up 5 months on the GT's. I wonder how true this is? I just feel someone should be notifying me of what is going on, considering the orginal time frame they told me is clearly incorrect, right?

Unfortunately, once the dealer processes you order and the order is submitted to the manufacturer, it's nothing but a waiting game until the dealership receives word that the vehicle has arrived at port. Anything else is just a guess - unfortunately true for just about every car manufacturer out there. Patience is the key, as painful as it is!

My experience with Mazda in the past - if you car needs to be ordered expect a minimum of 30 days for production, then another 30-60 days for transportation, depending on your location and how close you are to the port. I live in Southern California, so for us it's usually closer to 60-75 days from production to delivery. But, there are a lot of different factors that play in as well (e.g. ICE hold-ups, production issues at the factories in Japan, acts of God, etc.).

I hope you get your car soon, LFebs519! I echo Jcarte29's advice and give the sales manager a call or go in-person and get an update.

Thank you waylonrobert! I actually did call and speak with the sales manager today who did give me an update. The car is finished with production and has been assigned a VIN. They are just waiting now for it to be shipped, which hasn't happened yet. He told me to prepare myself for end of September begining of October- which is fine...saves me money honestly LOL. That is all I wanted, I knew there was no way it was still in production and what bothered me the most was my salesman's lack of communication with me, just not getting back to me at all. Also that he clearly didn't bother to check for any updates for me when I asked, as just yesterday he told me no updates, still in production, no VIN yet, when I found out today this wasn't the case. I'm happy again just knowing the status!

That's much more realistic, and glad you were able to get some assurance about when your car will be in....very exciting for sure, and worth the wait! :)

Hi everyone...this is my first post too. LFebs519 it's good to see someone near me. I'm not sure what dealer you went with but I got my CX-5 AWD touring bose/sunroof with GPS from Cooley Motors. I ordered mine the beginning of July and expected to receive it the end of Sept. or Oct. I went into the dealership to get my first service done on my daughters 2012 Skyactiv Mazda3 on August 15 and they had the exact one I ordered except this one had AWD...which I debated about if I needed to have AWD or not. I decided I needed it and purchased the CX-5 that day. The sales manager said the GT was very hard to come by because of the 19" rims...he said Mazda couldn't make them fast enough for the demand. I'm very pleased with my purchase and everywhere I go people tell me what a sweet ride it is. I don't think it's underpowered for me at all. As I stated above, I also have the skyactiv mazda3 and I knew how the engine felt and how to make the most of it and yet get very good gas mileage (even doing 90% city driving). If I had one concern, I would say the drivers side mirror vibrates when on rough road. I'm sure they will have a fix for that soon and it's really not an issue because I'm always listening to the Bose sound system. I hope you receive you CX-5 soon...I'd love to hear the results.

Hey all. My salesman says it should be here within the next 2 weeks, so hopefully no later then the end of September. Ciara I actually also went to Cooley! I had a bad experience at Orange with my Mazda 3, then went back to them anyway for the CX-5 and continued to have a bad experience, so went over to Cooley who I find to be much better. Who was your sales man, which one did you choose? I ordered mine on June 28th and now they say sometime this week or next week. I ordered the white GT with tech package, AWD (since we are in upstate with the snow!) Also the Sand/black combo interior.
