Opinions on powdercoated wheels.

I have a set of OZ ultra legerras in gold. I'm thinking about having them professionally powdercoated (low temp) true red, to match the car.

Bad idea? Personally, I think it would look pretty good. I saw a Red Porsche 996 turbo that was red with red wheels and thought it looked bad assed. I'm trying to make sure it wasn't the fact it was a Porsche that made it awesome.

Hmmm...might have to see a sample of this said combo before I make judgment.

Red wheels on a red car are not going to look good, IMO.

I think you hit the phenomenon right on the head in regards to the Porsche...it looked good because it was a Porsche...

post a side pic of yuor vehicle and have some fine gentleman/gentlewoman to photoshop those gold ozs to red Ozs, and then we shall be the jury

im pretty sure it was just the porsche. I saw a blue civic with blue wheels and I was underwhelmed.

that being said, I look forward to you doing it anyway and proving me wrong...

Everyone also told me that blue wheels would look stupid on my motorcycle. I did it anyway.

I like getting good advice and throwing in the trash.

I think it turned out just fine.

I think the blue looks sweet on the bike. I also like the gold on the car, are you just looking for something different or what?

Different...and the gold is starting to wear on the insides of the spokes. OZ has a 1 year warranty on finish and I'm over 2 years on them. I have only ever washed them as directed with mild detergent and a soft rag. They don't look bad at all but I can see it getting worse as time goes on.

Mine are not the only ones I have ever seen wear like this. I've seen others.

A little OT but what spoiler lip do you have on the rear?

I think it would look unique on your car, however the gold/red combo looks awesome!

thats why i thought the orange wheels would be awesome

I really like your gold/red theme you have going on... I think the only themes you can really pull off with a TR are gold/red and red/black.

OT but do you mind telling me where you got those eyelids? I want them.

if you can look at the red wheels everyday and not get tired of it then i say go for it. gotta take risks in life, it wouldn't be fun without them.lol

It's a Porsche is why it looked good.

Personally, I think the gold OZs look great on your TR MS3.

there are some red OZ Alleggerita HLT wheels on tirerack...they also have blue, gold, white, black, orange and gunmetal...... here is what they look like....

i think a different touch would be to powdercoat the wheels red, but then do a black lip.....

edit: oorrrrrrrr, after looking at your wheels and trying to think of something different. what if you powdercoat them black and then coat the center of the wheels (where the lugs are) RED.....so instead of the typical black with red lip, you'll have black with red center. bare with me if that seems stupid, i work graveyard shift and my mind runs at 100000000 miles a minute trying to keep myself awake.

mine are starting to wear a little bit too, at first i thought it was just stubborn dirt in the corners, but it's actually the wheels getting dull and worn down
