Opinions on CF hoods.

It's called installing it properly...

I'll be getting one for my Titianium. I'll paint the sides however.

i wouldnt say that its neccessarily based on the fact that it is installed properly or not.... it is a factor... but certainly not based on that...

i think its because of the nature of CF itself.... being really lightweight so the hood might flap at highspeeds or get blown back..... and CF being really strong and that it would rather fly off as a whole piece than crumble or fold like our stock hood upon impact like lets say a head on collision....

and the latch for CF hoods are most likely glued on because the latch itself cannot be welded onto the hood because the hood does not consist of a metal part for it to attach to so stories of them dis-attaching from the hood have been heard...

the latch is a glue on so thats why people use HOOD PINS!!!
Yea they might not look good in appearance but going 60mph+ with the hood on the windshield doesn't looks good in anyway.

holy crap... to all the guys out there with cf hood, speed safe :) - chris

car looks unfinished with one on. IMHO

i was eventually planning on getting one. when i had the money. which actually i guess means never.
so there we go.

thats why you go to ionperformance.com and get a color weave kevlar/CF hood that is a perfect fit and the color weave makes it look alot better on your car.

ask around a few guys around here have em.

I have my iON orange kelvar hood and have no problem whatsoever. very well built and best quality relative to others.

their hood latch is NOT GLUE onto the underside of the hood. IT HAS AN ALUMINIUM PIECE ON THE BOTTOM AND YOU FIX THE LATCH ONTO IT.

it would not fly away.

pm iON performance for more detail. He can probably give you a good deal since you located in vancouver right?

The hood did make alot of wind noise, but never looked like would fly off, although I have seen some hoods fly off. I think when you pay $200 for a new Cf hood that's when it will probably fly off, or like another member here said improper installation. Some people stop tightning the bolts because they here cracking and think it's tight enough. I didn't like the look of the hood pins so I didn't get them.
