I have the Sport Matic Trans. and 3 times since I have had the car, the check engine light and Trans. light has came on. The car drops down to drive and stays there even when I'm stopped. I have called the dealer to get it looked at but when I go to take it there, the code has cleared and there is no light. The dealer says that if the light is off then they cant do anything about it. My buddy checked it the first time with his ODB-II scanner. The problem was the trans. temp. sensor had an overload. Once I turn the car off and let it set for a while everything is fine.
In my opinion I have only had the car for a year and a half, and one time is to many.
But what can I do?

next time it comes on, drive to the dealer, don't turn off the car, and bring one of the service guys out and show him.

Other than that I got a great big bag of nothing.

id suggest the same thing. if they still get nothing, make sure they at least document that you had the problem.

I would love to do that, but this car has a mind of its own. The first and third time it happened I was at work on my lunch break, and the second time was late at night.

Hopefully next time the timing will be better

Where do you work? Is it the kinda place where you could say "hey, I'm having car trouble, I need to get it into the shop, I'll be back a little late" or are they really anal about stuff like that (IE: retail).

I could tell them I am going to be a little late but I run the business pretty much myself, and I have to be there at certain times during the day for UPS. Thanks for the help.

make sure you show/tell the dealer ASAP they have to know if it's at least documented it will help you later when they do service it.
