Here's what NGK says re: their one step colder plugs...
"Know What You are Buying: Iridium IX one step colder spark plugs are not a direct bolt-in for the Mazdaspeed3. These plugs come pre-gapped to .044 and will need to be re-gapped into the .028-.031 stock range. Improper gapping can damage the delicate Iridium tip, so contact your local performance shop if you are unsure how to properly install these spark plugs. JSC Speed can not honor and returns or exchanges on damaged spark plugs due to improper gapping or use of the plugs at the improper gap. NGK One Step Colder plugs are only designed for applications with 100hp over stock". Looking at your mod list you don't need a one step colder plug...

The other one step colder choice is NGK Iridium IX Spark Plug: LTR7IX-11. They also are gapped at .044 and need to be regapped to .028-.032. No appreciable difference in quality or performance. I'm just familiar with the NGK's from using them in other applications and I could get them locally and cheaper.

Yep... The ITV20 is the OEM replacement if you go with Denso. Only problem is possibly the gap @.044. Stock we should be around .028-.032.

my denso's came pre-gapped @ .028 inches. just pick up a spark plug gap measurement wheel along w/ anti-seize & di-electric grease condom size pouches located up at the front counter at your local auto parts store.

i think all denso's come pre-gapped but it doesn't hurt to double check. buy them on ebay to get the best price.

neighbors start respecting you when word gets out you're changing spark plugs on your car and one step colder to boot. next thing you know you'll have a fight club down at the cul-de-sac.
