On what rpm do you smooth launch your MS3?

So you just up rev up until 1.5k and just pop the clutch or slip the clutch until it grabs?

(sssh) I was never taught how to drive a stick by anyone in real life. Learned from reading, and I don't want my clutch to die prematurely.

I try to avoid slip as much as possible without shocking the drivetrain. About 1.2-1.5. Just a little slip for a smooth transition.

I too avoid too much slipping with out just dumping the clutch, mine is feathered in between 900 - 1200 rpm's. I've never had a clutch go out on me yet!

For a race launch I launch at about 3k because that's where the engine is making all its torque. Seems to work. I've only launched it twice though... don't wanna hurt my baby. For normal driving I start anywhere from 1.1-1.5k never really any more than that.

damn forreals? when you're put-putting around the city you launch at 1.5-2k? I'm launching constantly at about 1-1.1k on flat surfaces, at like 1.3.-1.5 for inclines. seems like 1.5-2k would be a bit too much for just normal driving or is it just me?

yea, 2k is a spirited take off(i sometimes end up doing 1-3 when i do this), most of the time its 1.5k

Depends on how long you want the clutch and drive to last.
My clutch is fully engaged my 11-1200 rpm for casual daily driving. If you new to manual try to practice.
Get the car rolling with no gas pedal at all, it's not hard.
Next find an incline, hill, driveway whatever and practice feeling where the clutch starts to engage and pull the car with your foot still on the brake, this way the car wont roll back even an inch when you released the brake to get going. Then hold the car there without using the brake, just clutch and little gas. Get good at this and your friends won't even know you have a manual because your shifts are so smoooooth.(thumb)

By the way once you master smooth launch and shifting technique, racing is much easier.
