Packages may cost 2-3K more based on how you option but realibility may be better.
I currently have a Honda 2007 CRV and would hate to get a Lemon CX5 with the
1) Hood rattle
2) Mirror rattle
3) Rough idle
All new cars have issues though, making me think I should wait a bit...
If those three things make a car a lemon for you, just don't even consider the CX-5.
You won't have the idle issue, because that's apparently only "happening" to "one person", but the chances of having the hood shake a tiny bit at highway speed, which you have never seen happen in person as of yet, or having a mirror flutter at highway speed, again, which you haven't actually seen happen yet in person, are possible.
So, if a tiny amount of hood flutter or mirror flutter, that you may or may not ever actually see in person, makes you think a car is a lemon, just delete your user account, and go buy something else.
We won't have a problem with you choosing something else, really.
But most of us here think the CX-5 is the best choice in the market right now, and we enjoy our cars very much.
And the Soul Red CX-5 is a fantastic looking car. I enjoy seeing mine every single day.
BC.
I'm pretty sure this guy is here just to stir things up.
Actually, it doesn't look too bad. I think it's like most cars (to me), color combination, wheel choice/color can make or break the whole look of the car.I'm one of two or three people on the planet who kinda likes the styling of the new Cherokee. But even so, the deal killer for me is its relatively limited cargo space.

Are you looking for a real SUV or a high riding car base AWD like the CX-5?
4Runner, Grand Cherokee, MB and some of the Chevy products are true SUV's with low range.
In terms of crossovers, if not the CX-5, there are a couple of used options you may want to consider...
X3, X1
Several Nissan products like the Pathfinder, Murano
Highlander
Honda Pilot
We had an '11 X3 with the 6 cylinder twin turbo engine. Great power, handled reasonably well, gas mileage was in the low 20's. I hear the X1 is nice. You can get a low mileage X1 for less than $35K and that comes either with turbo 4 or 6 cylinders.
As this sounds weird, we're really liking the CX-5. Since we bought the CX-5 about 2 weeks ago, our '11 Cayenne GTS has been sitting in the garage for about 2 weeks. :'( We're getting about 28mpg vs 14mpg for the GTS.We also have a '11 328Xi touring wagon and the CX-5 surprisingly handles as well. However the 328 has much better overall power (non turbo 6 cylinder). The 328 gets about 22mpg in combine hwy/city driving.
I'd like to get a CUV/SUV (I never had one) for safety matter (AWD) and for the extra space.
Get a SUV for extra space, but don't get AWD for safety. The most dangerous thing about AWD is the extra false sense of security. AWD is NOT safer than FWD. It is just practical, in the sense that you are less likely to get stuck in a snow bank or on a steep icy hill. But you are just as likely to skid in a ditch or rearend someone on icy roads, and even more so if you think you are safer...
Fyi, the Cherokee was supposed to be introduced in July, but has been delayed due to transmission issues. What's interesting though....it's going to be a ZF 9speed transmission.
...
I miss the good old times when car's optionals were not packed. It would be more expensive to get them all, but it also might save someone's money to get only what he really wants/needs.
