On the fence about trading up to 2012 CX9

Hello and Merry Christmas to all my fellow Mazda drivers. I have been going back and forth with myself about picking up a cpo 2012 CX9 AWD touring model 25000 miles for $25K. The problem I am having is the vehicle I am trading in gets 36-46 mpg, so I'd be visiting the gas station more frequently. I honestly wouldn't mind paying more frequently for fill ups as long as I felt at ease with the reliability of this vehicle. Our Mazda5 has been completely trouble free in the year we've owned it and I would expect the CX9 to prove be just as good or better. Are there any potential time bombs or catastrophic failures being experienced by current owners out there in regards to this vehicle? Any input you all might have would be great. Cheers-

Love love love my 2012 Touring AWD, so no concerns there for you. I am concerned, however, with the price - $25K with 25K miles on it???? Seems high to me. For comparison, I bought the same model new (with Bose/Moonroof/Liftgate) for $30,300 OTD a little over 2 months ago. I'm guessing you could do even better on a new model at this point in time, or get the CPO for significantly less. JMO.

Thanks for the heads up on the price. I realize that the mileage is on the high side being that it is a lease return model, but the cpo warranty coupled with the remainder of the original factory warranty is what is making this deal look that much better.

I picked up a CPO 2012 Touring for 24k last Friday with 13,500 on the clock, car looks brand new still, CarFax shows it was a company vehicle. My wife did not want to spend 6 grand more for all the bells and whistles of a GT, the last car she owned had a sunroof she never used and a 6 disc changer that was always empty so she is quite content with this

Congrats on the deal, 13,500 on the odometer sounds alot more reasonable than 25000 on same model year and $1000.00 less = score ! I have 22K on my 09 tdi jetta that I've had since new so I'm having a tough time understanding how you even aquire 25K in one year.

25K miles is HEAVY use, and possibly, misuse. I would look around, and if you are planning to drive alot of miles daily yourself, consider another vehicle with far better gas mileage. After one year of driving, I got 13.5 mpg according to my computer last night. Thank God gas was ONLY 3.99/gallon!

Since you mentioned it, think about how that's going to sit with you and your wallet every week, when you are at the pump, watching it go and go,..

Appreciate all the feedback, I think maybe I might just forgo the idea on this particular CX-9. I'll just keep my eyes open for one with lower mileage and to the point of the money siphoned from the old bank account at the pump, I might just hold out for a decent CX-5 cpo.

I love my '12 GT, but you will be cutting your gas milage by 1/2 to 2/3. I avg between 16-17 per the trip computer.
