Mazdaspeed MX-5?? I didn't know that the MSRX-8 was anywhere near production, much less in showrooms.

Probably just dealer installed body kit and whatnot. There was a P5 at my dealership that they dubbed "Mazdaspeed Protege5". It had dealer installed aftermarket wheels, exhaust and hood w/scoop. Yes, it looked nice, but we all know it's not a Mazdaspeed issue car.

What dealership were you at? I doubt there is a real deal sitting around houston of all places.

i was at jay marks, not sure if it was real or not-- who knows but it looked ******* sweet, fyi price was 39,900. body kit was gorgeous and wheels were very nice 5 spoke 18"(ibelieve) with cf mazdaspeed logo in middle of wheels. as far as i can tell there was notyhing real special with interior. had spoiler that looked ALMOST stock but was elevated 3" or so with metal attachments. damn it was so gorgeous. Im going back up there for my replacement kenwood deck hopefully friday, will snap a few with digicam.

btw-- i saw the one thread with a silver one sitting on a platform at a car show... this one looks just like that one only black. if it means anything, it looked identical to another rx8 under the hood, nothign special there.

yes all you guys are seeing is the mazda rx-8 with the dealer installed mazdaspeed bodykit it is not an actuall MSrx-8 but still it is dead sexy

As far as I had heard that's all the MSRX-8 is. It's a sweet body kit, interior accents, hella nice wheels made by Volk and a few other tidbits. Mabey a little suspension tweaking. But, performance wise it's the same car. That is what the "actual" MSRX-8 is. Japan might have a performance tweaked version that looks the same, but it's not called the MSRX-8.

There are no performance enhancements on any countries RX-8. Remember the whole overrated horsepower fiasco? Well, the guys at M2 Performance in Concord helped develop the engine (as much as everyone creams over JDM stuff, with a few exceptions, the best RX-7 tuners/designers are in the U.S.) and he was saying that thing is being pushed to the max, when you consider streetability, drivability, emissions, gas mileage, and warrenty considerations. Also, the way Mazda designed the Renesis, it is VERY difficult to increase performance using FI, hence the slow availability of any aftermarket FI systems. Allegedly, Mazda is going to unveil an electronically assisted supercharger this year or early next year to boost somewhat anemic performance. But be prepared to watch reliability and reputation plummet alike when Mazda "certified" mechanics begin working on them. That's what eventually killed the 3rd Gen in the U.S. . . .dealers had NO CLUE and actually did more damage to somewhat unreliable cars that needed constant service. Ask almost any 3rd Gen owner, with few exceptions, we all have horror stories of paying dealers a small fortune to wreck you car further (mine was at least 5k and almost a blown engine when all I needed was a new oil pan gasket and some new vaccum tubing.

well might i say again-- best looking car in the world. it made my heart ache to hop back in the msp. IMAGINE THAT. Never thought I'd regret climbing into my car -=( The body kit and rims are so ******* beautiful I am very impressed mazda has put this car out. The body lines of the mazdaspeed body kit are absolute PERFECTION and the wheels look to be VERY solid and simply gorgeous. Damn i'm going to drive up there soon just to see it again. If I had mid-high 30k to spend on a car-- I would be driving home this rx8 in the blink of a fuggin eye, aww im in love

yup it is a dead sexy car. it would be cool with a 3 rotor engine, but i bet that would **** up the weight dist. but still 238hp aint all that bad people

for the same price you could get an evo or sti and have cash, or an S2000, or a G35 or a bad ass FD. But, great handling and a funky exterior has its advantages. Just down to personal taste I guess.

Just couldn't justify spending 35k for 238 hp with Mazda QC and dealer network.

There is a Mazdaspeed edition of the RX-8....there's an article putting it against the 350Z S-tune somewhere below this thread.
