I don't care what people think, but after 'retirement age' you should have to go through a road test to keep your licence, every 2 years.

A couple years ago a guy in Texas who was like in his 80's "hit the wrong pedal"
drove through a crowded city street with vendors and killed a few people.

I would love to see madatory testing for ALL people, as there are too many asshats on the road.

Part of the reason this will never happen, at least with the elderly, is because of the demographic. Think about it: the AARP is one of the most powerful lobby groups in Washington, and the elderly turn out to vote in higher numbers than any other age group.
 
I agree pretzellogic. They need to do more real world testing and have common situations that most people can't deal with. Like merging....

merging!!!! dear god!!! i hate when people come flying off of this one highway onto another one, and they have a yeild sign... however, they only a little bit of room to merge... they dont care, they still come flying out and cut people off. the other day the guy made us all go on the other side of on coming traffic!!(dark)
 
merging... haha i live in FL this kinda s*** happens like once a week. They all drive like thier intoxicated, i laid on the horn one time and was still SLOWLY pushed off the side of the road, retarded really.

Reminds me of the Simpson's episode where they enforce a cerfew on people under 70, and grandpa simpson is the only one who votes.
 
when i was on my way home from the North Carolina summer meet back in 2003, Ghost was leading us back to the highway. it was a 4 lane highway with a middle lane used for turning. well we were all in the left lane, and this guy in a big SUV was in the right lane, well the guy in front of him was turning right and he didnt want to wait, so he looked over at me, saw me and came right on over, despite me blowing my horn, i had no choice but to go into the the middle turning lane. and i floored it to hurry up and get back over so i wouldnt lose everyone. ( i hate being lost)...well whats in front of me?? a station wagon getting ready to turn, THANK GOD ghost slammed his brakes on and let me in front of him at the last minute. idiot. I would have let the guy over if i WASNT RIGHT NEXT TO HIM.....
 
Well, that's the problem with merging. Nobody wants to use directionals to be courteous when getting over, and the people in the lane that gets merged into need to stop tailgaiting and realize that they need to let the people over. It's everyones fault. I really hate commuting, though I love to drive. Sucks.
 
No their shouldn't be an age limit for driving. We should be doing driving tests every 2 years for everyone.
