Ok so just changed to synthetic oil

I just did the change and have a couple of questions.

1. How many miles can I expect to get from this oil?
2. I see some folks runs other synthetics. Where and why?

Sorry let me clarify... I am thinking of changing the tranny to synthetic too. Should I? I have no idea how it has been maintained to this date. It has 141,000 miles on it.

Synthetic fluids last longer and put up with more hell. They're worth running both from financial and protection standpoints.

i run my synthetic 3000 miles but no more than 3500 miles, have had no problems and has worked great ever since i switched over two years ago.

I use Redline MT90 tranny fluid, and it's good stuff. As far as the interval, make sure you are checking the levels from time to time as well. Just because you can get 5k between changes doesn't mean that You won't need to add some oil between changes.

Thanks for the info thus far but of greater importance is ... can I add synthetic Tranny fluid at high mileage like I am at and be ok?

Well I went ahead and changed out the tranny fluid and in the process had to replace a leaky axle seal.

YES!!!!

I put Mobil 1 synthetic in my transmission and it made the world of difference. Smother and more precise shifts is what I noticed the most.
