i bought the street unit motor mount (62a) i had the vibrations and everything but it seemed to go away after maybe 200mi give or take... and the shifting started to feel a little worse than when i had the vibrations... i do city driving.. but even so should it really be broken in like that w/ only 200ish miles on it... it basically feels like it was back to stock again...

I have the same mount and have put at least 5K miles on it and it still feels the same to me. I'd double check it to make sure it is mounted tight. When I initially installed I didn't use loctite so I removed it a week later and put it on all the bolts. I just checked it a couple weeks ago with my breaker bar and everything is still snug. I have also heard one person notice that the hex bolts that hold the 2-piece mount together were lose but I haven't had that problem.

Is there one type of mounts that is better than another, because they all really do the same thing, right?? I was looking at getting a set with my next paycheck.....

yes, they do the same thing, but the higher the stiffness of the bushing, the more effect it has. unfortunately, the higher the stiffness, the more your teeth will rattle from the vibrations it sends through the car! (eek2) what it comes down to is what you're willing to tolerate, imo.

Well 62a is pretty soft. For that level of performance gain I would do the Corksport inserts for 35 bucks instead. The mounts all work the same but as stated stiffer is more vibrating. The order from soft to hard is; Cork sp, SU, TMW's, then TRZ's. My TRZ broke in but didn't loose its feel it lost some of the vibration.

i actually just got the SU mount because my corksport inserts stop being effective after about 2 months of usage...=/ i picked the SU because it's 62a and would add the least amount of vibrations while still being a full replacement mount that adds at least as much stiffness as the inserts. hopefully, i won't have the same loss of performance that i got with the corksports...=d

Gotcha cool I didn't know you had a set that failed.

ya, i loved them while they lasted! no perceivable added vibrations, and a decent amount of added stiffness...=d

i think the thing that kicked it overboard was when i added my cobb springs, actually. the added stresses must have killed it, cause for about a week, i was in heaven because my wheel hop was essentially gone in 2nd gear...then it just started going downhill over a period of about a week or two from there and i was suddenly back to what felt like the stock mount. when i replaced it, everything was still bolted down just fine, and the inserts and stock mount looked visually undamaged, but it was definitely squishing around like a mofo in there...

i've had the SU mount for a few days now, and it's feeling pretty darn firm. i'm just hoping lightning doesn't strike again...:D

for performance, definitely get the trz delrin, best mod by far. If you want mediorce get the poly from trz but def get something stiffer than what u got.

ok any ideas still y it would feel like the same as stock especially at about 300mi now... should i just go order the 90a bushing and slap that on... its like 40bucks for the bushing alone... i dont mind the vibrations but i rather not have them at all.. but since i know with the 62a i should still have very slight vibration seems like a prob to me (maybe bad bushing) wen first installed it was smooth... no jerky feeling when driving... now the shifter feels wierd and i got the jerking while shifting back...

i would recommend checking to see if the bolts loosened since you installed it. if not, then call up SU and ask them to help you with this.

check all you want but that is a soft mount, your gona need a upgrade so that the car stays stiff after "break in"

clos has a point here. it just might be that this mount is not stiff enough for your needs. you can upgrade the material in this mount, or just get the TRZ mount (everyone seems to love that one).

You killed the Corksport Inserts? That sucks I have them, what happened to them, they seemed pretty indestuctible from when i put em in, but now u got me wanting to check em.

ya, it happened shortly after i put in cobb springs...i think the added stress was just too much and squished the inserts or something...=/ the lame part is that it was not visually apparent, so don't even bother checking them unless you start noticing that they stopped stiffening the mount...=d

i think im gunna order the 90a insert from street unit... i dont think my 62a is stiff enough... if you guys are saying the weak ones seem to lose there stiffness that fast i guess im going to go stiffer... i would just buy a different mount but i dont wana shell about another 100 so 40 for the 90a insert is good enough for me

ok just a quick question because i asked in the suspension/tire forum what psi the tire should be (went to check my tires today and they where at 45psi!) but would that cause akward feeling while driving i just put them down to 32/34 but wont be able to try it for till like a little later... these are stock tires/rims... im guessing the dealer as usual didnt know wut they were doing and set them at 45 before i got the car (its only a month and a half old)

holy crap...45psi is WAY too high! you should be right around 32psi when the tires are cold. as the temp goes up, the tires will heat up and the air will expand and increase the psi, but when you get up in the morning, the car should be at about 32psi.
