I've been having a boost leak for a little bit. I had a chance to get into it today and I think my Forge BPV is leaking. I was putting the stock one back in and the bottom screw was cross threaded a little bit. I backed it out but it's too late the threads are messed up in the casted peice and now I can't even get my stock BPV in place. Thank god I live like 2 minutes from Home Depot. My father is coming over to give me a hand to possibly tap out whan I messed up on the back side of the flange. Has anyone else actually ever done this or do I need to order a new peice for the bottom of my intercooler??

Please please please give me some words.....other than dumbass... :o

I've snapped the head off of a bolt on the cold pipe, that was frustrating. So I know how you feel. Just try to tap it out a size bigger and see if that works. If not, then try to find a new cold pipe for sale...

happened to me. i just took teh car to a shop and got it re-threaded. they didnt even charge me anything.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes. Just be calm though... take some deep breaths and try not to be frustrated, it can be fixed.

Try to gently rework the threads with a same-size tap. They probably aren't buggered too badly. It's pretty soft aluminium in there. With care and BPV off, you might be able to use the steel bolt that holds the BPV down in aid of this. I did, anyway. The holes for the BPV are mil exact and it's easy to just have it a hair off and bugger it.

Worst case, if you meat-fisted it totally, You can drill and tap for a bigger bolt or drill and nut it from the back side of the flange.

DONE!!! It took 3 stores but I found a tap the right sizer. For anyone usign this for reference it's an M 6x1.0 Retapped it and it threaded perfectly. Turns out the Forge BPV sis go bad on me and leak by. That's 2 aftermarket BPVs in a year...WTF. Thanks for everyone input and Happy Holidays!

If it is actually M6 X 1, I'm not surprised it took three stores to find it. Standard threads for M are 1.25 and 1.5.

Call up Forge and ask them about your issue, they are usually pretty good about stuff like this.

The kit comes with a new piston and gaskets/O-rings

FTW.. i did this a couple of months ago. Worth the price for the ping!

As for the jacked up threads. My friends were beyond re-tapping, so i drilled out the threads, made it smooth, and put a bolt and nut on her. Worked great.

yeah plus 1 to the oversize , like he says if you can get a nut on the back side you win

if it is trcky like that you can play with the diferences between inch and metric, go very slightly bigger, and keep enough thread profile to be able to put some torque on it

Same thing on my end bro. I went a little nuts (didnt have a torque wrench) and decided to just start cranking on the socket wrench to secure the BPV. Boom, ******* sheared the head off of the top bolt and destroyed any semblance of threading.

Long story short, I had to drill the piece of bolt out of the thread and re-tap the threads. I went with a bolt with locking nuts to ensure a good fit. Havent had any problems since and I learned my lesson and bought a torque wrench.

On a side not, i had to bring the car to my uncles garage, so i drove around for like 15 mins with the BPV being held on by one bolt and encountered no problems.

Good to hear it worked out for you. Same thing happened to me :( I ended up drilling out the hole and using a bolt/nut combo with a couple washers. Worked like a carm!
