after reading about boost im still uncertain if i should put in my MBC..has anyone tried this...i have replaced my plugs w/ngk and installed an hks turbo timer..i wanna put my boost to about 8.5psi..has anyone tried anything like this?? you think this will be safe or result in a blown motor?

This SHOULD be safe with the colder plugs.

Remember that the Callaway prototype ran the T25 at 9psi, it was set lower in the production model.

Plenty of people run 8.5psi without any problems. This is not a guarantee that you will be 100% problem-free. But raising the boost 2 psi does not put that much more stress on the motor.

If you want to be safe, you will see similar or more gains from an intake and a downpipe or turbo-back exhaust.

should be safe, but if you can't afford to fix it, don't mess with it

Excellent advice... If you're learning by trial and error, you need money.

I have an MBC sitting on a shelf waiting until I have the money to void the warranty with that and other mods... until then, it's stock.

dr.sound is set to 8.5psi...he's been running that on his titanium msp since he got it..

this coming from the guy running 15psi hahaha

I run 9-10psi all the time. But then again, I don't drive like a bat out of hell full time. It's just kinda a part time thing. ;)

Never been tried.

j/k i run 9.5 psi but then again my msp isn't my daily driver. Use colder plugs and it shouldn't be a problem.

i have colder plugs and i was getting knock at 8psi....so be careful

In MA your temps will be too low to run that boost consistantly without an FCD. Hold off until the spring, run a modest boost (like 8.5) when it warms up and learn more about the car in the meantime. Good luck!

The car has enough fuel on the stock injectors to run 8.5 very safely, in fact, you can probably run 9-10psi with no issues. Anythign more than that and you *may* encounter an issue.
The trick with the MSP is smart tuning, something that ive noticed a few of the people whove blown their motors were not doing. Im not saying they were stupid, or wrong, but they were on the edge, and it ending up costing them.

Currently, im going to be researching the HKS Super AFR, and bigger injectors, probably 450cc's from a mazda rx7, as a minor fuel upgrade to support 12-13psi on pump gas.

And if you dont wanna raise the boost, there are several other, albeit more expensive ways, to get some more power out of the MSP.
FMIC, CAI, downpipe or full exhaust, will all help you make more power by freeing up restrictions in the breathability of the car.

see thats why i say RUN STOCK BOOST.....

you say this comment in about every thread regarding boost...are you being sarcastic...? if you are, i dont see why you're trying to flame those who can't 'boost' as high as you....

By the way, 8.5 is a nice difference from stock, but if you run stock, and then at 10psi, the difference is night and day.
I'd suggest 10psi for those who really dont want to do much more to their car.
You may also want to purchase some colder plugs, but it isnt 100% necessary, but just a precaution.

what ever do you mean? im saying it as a precaution, if you ask me the engine is not the strongest but its not the weakest.
mines been holding up fine and if more people would do the same, this whole thing about boosting below 8 will turn into 12psi and 15psi is good to go. wouldnt you agree.
but its only a handful if that of people that are boosting............many worry about their warranty which is totally understandable but i am on a quest to see what this thing can do.....
happy boosting

Im looking into buying an injen this month or next, any reason to hold off on the injen cai for something better? Or should i buy the injen for now. I don't wanna have to resell crap down the road for something better if you know what i mean. Right now im bone stock.
