So, I have some oil on the top of the valve cover around one of the spark plugs.
I also get some hesitation occasionally when accelerating.
No codes yet.

So, is it time for a new valve cover gasket?

Large variation in prices on gaskets. Any brands better or worse than others?

If the oil is on top of the valve cover then it's your grommets that are leaking.

Felpro is the trusted gasket maker.
You can also pull the coil pack off and check if there's any oil on top of the plugs.
May be worth it to try snugging up the valve cover bolts, without snapping them.

Oil around your spark plug is not a good thing.
It may short your spark to ground.

The grommets get old then harden and crack.
They're probably 20 years old.
