Oil Filter?

I've searched and couldn't find anything... What do you guys recommend for using as a stock replacement oil filter? Brands? Also does anyone have part #'s? Thank you!

either go to mazda dealership and buy the oem one. Or you can go to any wal-mart and for 6 bucks get the motorcraft #2017b....its the same thing. This is what I use. Though I do plan to get the oil conversion kit soon so ican run the spin on filters.

why is everybody hating on the cartridge filter? i'm about to change oil myself for the first time and never dealt with anything other than spin-on filters; anything i should be aware of?

There's no reason to hate cartridge filters, for the extra 5 minutes it adds to changing the oil. They can withstand higher oil pressure than spin on filters and they clean the oil perfectly well. The reason most Euro cars use them is the high sustained highway speeds on the autobahn can blow a spin on filter up like a balloon. They may understand something, there.

I would not recommend the Motorcraft filter. I've used 2 of them so far and within the 3000 miles I change my oil, both of them were collapsed when I took them out. I'm sure the filtering ability is probably not compromised, but it makes me somewhat nervous nonetheless.

After those two incidents, I changed over to the Napa Gold filter. I've changed one of them already (I'm on my 2nd one) and it stood up perfectly well.

Has anyone tried the FRAM filter?
