Official: ATx -> MTx conversion

I have called Mazda here and Wayne said that the cost for him to rebuild will be quite high because they have never done a rebuild just a swap and he suggested that it is probably 80% Differential but that it could be the Main Shaft as well so FOCUS can you send both and well give you the shaft back next time we see you if it's not required?

I called Mac's Transmission which is like 2 Km from here, Their shop is one of the cleanest and best around and Sean said that he would come get the car and rip it down to see what the problem is and then wait on parts...

This Will Happen By Noon Today...
 
Ok The car is at Mac's Tranny and one of their Mechs said that if the tranny was tilted in any way with the driveshafts out, the spline will toss around and not be aligned at all. They usually put a "Rod" or something in. Because the Tranny was sideways in Pauls car for a week in a bucket. I think that this might be the case..

More info soon but it looks like it will be fixed by the end of the day if parts are not required...
 
Interesting... I had my tranny sit in various positions on the ground for about 8 months with no problems... but that would be great if that is all the issue is! :)

It was just the ******* Shaft...

We Re-Used the ATX Shaft on the Right side because the MTX Boot was fuxcked and the shafts looked the same. The Tranny guy simply swapped boots and now it has the proper MTX Shaft and works fine!



$150.00 Out the Door with a Tow to the shop included...
 
great news.. i have seen that on a civic before, the drive shaft broke in the boot, and it sounded like a diff blew up cause it was shacking all up in the diff, it was just a messed up cv shaft...

awesome, i can't wait to see this massive how to. you're gonna list all the parts and everything right?
 
yeah.. i'm going to list all the part numbers of the bolts I had to buy - but i must admit, that we used a few misc. ones that Brian had laying around, which I really didn't pay attention to on the last day (after 15hrs of work, i was getting antsy)

It'll be as complete a how-to as you could ever find for our cars... i'll list EVERY major part I had to use, it will be helpful, i'm sure, to all the people thinking about the conversion.

although you wouldn't need both of us.. that'd be overkill.
Brian knows how to do it, he just might not want to ever do it again, lol

i'll just write up the how-to, and you can see the work involved. It's quite straight forward, but there's lots of monkeying around. Brian's presence easily saved me about 15-20hours of trying to figure s*** out, cuz he knew it all off the top of his head.

seriously... i'm scared of that one.. i have a big mouth.

so i've already started out with the how-to. it'll take me about 2-3 days to write it up, and get all the parts.
the parts list is the longest part, as well as an explanation of why (cuz people question everything)
