Caught in the USA

What better place to develop the next (eighth) generation European Accord than in the USA, far away from prying European eyes. Maybe Honda has to rethink their strategy because our spyphotographers managed to snap some quality shots early this morning close to Honda's US facilities.
The current Euro Accord had a facelift for its 2006 model year when it received its first dose of the Sports 4 Concept styling, making it practically generation 7,5. Unclear is how much of the recently revealed Honda Accord Tourer Concept styling will make it to the eighth generation Accord.
The next gen Accord base model will probably be powered by an improved 2.4 liter i-VTEC four-cylinder engine with 20 to 30 hp more than the current (166 hp) engine, have front wheel drive and with either a six-speed manual or 5-speed automatic gearbox.
The sportier Type-S should also make it to the line-up with around 260 hp coming from an up-tuned 2.3 liter turbocharged engine also used in the RDX. The Type-S is expected to have a six-speed auto/manual DSG gearbox and Honda's Super Handling All-Wheel-Drive system.
The Honda Accord will also make it Stateside as the slightly modified Acura TSX (which we spotted a few months ago as a heavily camouflaged prototype). The 2008 Honda Accord will also be featured with a diesel in Europe and with current oil prices the way they are it is very well possible that the TSX will get the same engine.

This is ridiculous! It's just too fat! I guess when they made the US Accord a fullsizer, they had to do the same to the TSX.

hmmm..I wonder if this is the JDM Accord....So it will have a 2.4 NA and a 2.3 turbo, sounds nice.

TSX; welcome to the middle aged beer gut.

I agree!

The current TSX is gorgeous and sleek, why do they have to add the love handles?

The biggest problem I have with the new accords is way too much rear overhang. It kills an otherwise decently proportioned car, I think.

2009 Euro Accord/Acura TSX

Honda just released a set of teaser images featuring the all-new European Accord which will make its premier at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show in March. Moreover, since the current European market Accord and the US Acura TSX are one and the same, the EU version of Honda’s mid-size sedan consequently also previews the next-gen TSX.

The teaser images that Honda released today concern the Station Wagon variant of the new European Accord dubbed “Tourer”, but Honda says that the sedan version will also be unveiled in Geneva. The new Euro Accord is based on last year’s Accord Tourer Concept that was previewed at the Frankfurt Show (see images here). According to the Japanese carmaker, the new Accord “boasts quality features to challenge established premium contenders in the executive D-segment”. Sales of both Accord variants will commence in early summer.

I want the exact car pictured. Blue TSX wagon, preferably with the turbo 4 from the RDX or the diesel.

Civic style head and tails lamps

I thought the same thing. I wonder if they'll make more changes between the Euro Accord and the TSX this time, though. In Europe and Japan, the Civic has different headlights. Might be too close for comfort, especially when they're trying to take Acura upmarket.

I would kill somebody to get a TSX wagon this time around, though.
