Off topic - Mazda 6 will have diesel? and 30k + for GT. Wow.

Is it just me or is this new Mazda 6 sounding awefully sexy?

"Another unknown: how much more buyers will need to pony up for Mazdas new 2.2-liter turbodiesel I-4. Mazda has yet to announce U.S. specifications for the engine, but in European guise, its good for 173 hp and 310 lb-ft. "

"UPDATE: We were able to reach a Mazda representative for comment on the pricing and they confirmed that the 2014 Mazda 6 will start at $21,675 including destination. It has also been confirmed that the Grand Touring model will start at $30,500. (Appropriate changes have been made above and below.)"

Of course the new 6 is good and tempting for the class. It is really all new, unlike the 13 CX-9, which is a total failure as a redesign, just a nip and tuck.
The new 6 is even leader (in the UK at least) in something Mazdas for a long time have lacked, excellent fuel economy. Which of course, still lacks the CX-9.
I think the new 6 is rated at 27/38 hwy mpg, which is class leading with the Nissan Altima.

Yes, but Altima has the CVT. No thanks. I am not ready for that.
I believe the diesel is about $1000 more in cost. Pricing-wise, it could be up to $2000 more.
You can refer to the pricing difference in Australia. It is available there now.

Love the new Mazda6.

Since we are off topic in the lounge, I wanna take advantage and ask u, what fluid the diff uses and how many quarts? Have u done the drain and refill?
Just had a rally type trip with too much dust, so I think now might be a good time to do it amongst other things.

I have no idea, nor data next to me.
I always have them done at dealership.

Well, funny enough just found some data.

Per the service manual:

Do not perform overhauling and other servicing such as transfer oil inspection, adjustment, and
replacement.

A maintenance-free type transfer has been adopted

OK, It`s a wrap!

You jumped from talking about differential to transfer case. These are two different "things".
No maintenance needed for transfer case, but the fluid in differential needs replacement sooner or later.
28K for heavy use.

If the Mazda 6 diesel wagon came to the US, I would strongly consider trading in the CX9 for it! (my previous car was a Subaru Legacy GT wagon)
