you "slow" 2.0 guys can get a slight performance boost by installing the exhaust cam from the 2.3... there will be 6 degrees more duration and 1 degree more overlap from stock... this cam is already stock in the new miata... you can also get the 10.8 pistons from the new miata too

all part numbers are in the faq

yes there's hope for "cheap" model!

and 12hp less in the previous ones... a whopping 2hp increase with just VVT

The 2.0l is far from slow. It isnt fast. But, its quick. Just like the 2.3. Quick but far from fast. And, so far. Everything that is out for the 2.3. You can buy for the 2.0. So, there hasnt been "hope". Its already out there. Thanks for the info though.

don't get all defensive... why else did I write it as "slow" in quotations?

I wouldn't call this the 'cheap' model..

if I wanted to go the 'cheap' way I would've bought a Kia or a Sunfire or something like that...
I bought this car when I finished University, and I had no real job.. so I couldn't really afford to be buyin expensive cars...

ps- went to Mazda.ca and just looked up the power/weight (hp and kg) ratios..

1. the slow model = 0.117 (2006 model = 0.118)

2. the super fast model = 0.121

how much more torque does the 2.3 have though, and when modding, the 2.3 will come out ahead...

depending on the extent of the mods
