Odometer Test mode?

Hi all,

My other vehicle is a Ford where I just learned about the Odometer test mode built into later models. Thinking that Ford and Mazda shared a close relationship I tried it on my 2012 Mazda 2 Sport. It did work, but I was wondering if someone in the know could tell me what I am seeing. Quick search of the forums didn't show anything.

To activate:
1) Hold down odometer trip button.
2) While holding button, turn key to ON position.
3) Wait for odometer to display "test"
4) press trip button to cycle through the modes.
5) to leave test mode, turn key to OFF position

I recognized the gauge sweep mode and bulb test, but everything else was a mystery. I gave up when it got stuck on "070000".

Any knowledge from gurus would be appreciated.

I sent this to 2 of my 'car guy' friends and said the rev limiter doesn't work in 4th. I wander if they'll believe it..haha. Don't worry, I'll tell them the truth eventually.




In all seriousness though, this is a useful tool. Ill probably do this quite often to make sure my oil light and high temp lights still work. Thank you for the how-to, phage.

You are right, this test mode runs for years on fords like my father's.

Sadly on my '08 EUDM Mazda 2 DE, that, doesn't work.
