OBD II codes

Does anyone know how to get the OBD codes out of a Mazda without going to a dealer? My previous car had a procedure where you switched the ignition on and off 4 times quickly. The car would then go into diagnostic mode and flash the codes using the CEL light. Is there a procedure like this for the 5??

I'm not having any issues but it's nice to know what's going on (before you get to the dealer and spend $85 for find out it's complaining about the gas cap!) if one does

if it's only the gas cap, it should be under the 4yr/50k anyways, eh, actually, anything for under the miles/yr should be under the btb. If you need to know, most AutoZone's or Pepboys would let you diagnose the car by letting you use the tool, just tell them to clear out gas cap code.
