O.E. Tuning's SPN CF hood. Possible GB ?

O.E. Tuning - thanks for clarifying your product in regards to the latch mechanism etc.

We've seen some other CF hoods which actually use FRP bonded with the hood @ 90 degrees with a cut-out used as a latch. Being that your photos of your hoods didn't exactly show the latch itself, that's the reason why we said it perhaps could be made in that similar fashion.

You may have interpreted our statement incorectly in regards to the structural re-inforcement, as this energy will dissipate through the hood causing it to shatter. We never said it would absorb this energy and fold like aluminum or a conventional metal hood.

Our "V-weave" hood actually uses more material as it's positioned in a fashion such that the other pieces cannot be re-used for hoods and/or other pieces. We never mentioned a performance benefit associated with this, as it's more a fashion statement then anything else.

Hello, iON Performance

Thank you for the prompt reply.

We are unclear on how the scene is in Canada. However, here in the heart of Los Angeles CA, competition is greater then one can imagine. With shows packing in every other week, track, show, or street scene. Competition brings out the best in every company, not only do we offer true JDM lines of hood including Nissan SILEighty, Toyota AE11, Toyota Chaser, and many other models to come. Not to say, we are the only company in North America to carry 6K HS SPN fibers. O.E. Tuning's manufacturing process and hood design will more then surpasses anyone's desire for a true light weight carbon fiber hood.

1. Single piece carbon fiber construction.
2. Straight weaves. 100% straight and rigid weave lines from whatever angle you view an O.E. Tuning hood from.
3. Clear coat has to be a mirror like finish.
4. Light weight.

As our customers become more knowledgeable in carbon fiber, O.E. Tuning products will exceed anyone's expectations of a TRUE JDM design with light weight, high gloss look. Track or Show, we are ready to go.

Best of luck in your ongoing efforts for the Protege community. Hopefully we will have a chance to work together in the near future.

Regards,

O.E. Tuning
